Comparison of the Specs: Apple iPhone X vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 8

Apple iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 are possibly two of the most desirable phones coming out this year. Unfortunately, taking into consideration their prices, only a handful of people will be able to afford them.

Despite the fact that both phones work under completely different operating systems, which will possibly influence the decisions of future customers, in the table below we will try to compare them from a purely technical point of view.

It is worth remembering that both operating systems use hardware resources in different ways. That's why some generally worse parameters may be used by an operating system in a much better way, which can have a significant influence on the effectiveness of a device and its other parameters.

During the today's conference in Steve Jobs Theater, Apple has presented 3 models of its flagship product - iPhone. As we have got used to, despite the fact that the majority of the new functions is already present in the phones available on the market for many years, the company from Cupertino has presented them as if they were breakthrough functions used for the first time.
The first 2 models presented today are direct successors of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and they are marked as 8 and 8 Plus. As we got used to with Apple, the developed versions are marked with "s" at the end, in the upgraded version. That's why the presented models should be the breakthrough ones.
The basic version (iPhone 8) has been equipped with the 1/3'' 12Mp sensor with mechanical stabilization. One wide-angle lens with the equivalent of 28mm and f/1.8 is responsible for image generation. The sensor has been improved and, thanks to the new color fiters and deeper pixels , it is to offer a wider dynamic range and natural color reproduction.
iPhone 8 Plus, just like its predecessor, has two lenses. The first lens has an equivalent of 28mm and the second one - 56mm f/1.8. In contrast to the 7 Plus version, version 8 has two lenses stabilized mechanically.

      1). Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
The autofocus is possibly the same system as in the previous models - the phase detection one. We don't know for sure as it wasn't mentioned during the conference.
In addition, the Portrait Lighting mode has been used in iPhone 8 Plus. It will, with the use of two cameras, create a "mask" of the photographed person and it will enable one to simulate various lighting effects on them.

2). Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus Portrait Lighting Mode
The new iPhones will surely satisfy all fans of film-making since they record them in 4K, with the speed of 60f/s. These are possibly the first smartphones which offer such possibilities. In Full HD, the speed increases to 240f/s, which is a really impressive result.
The general specification has also undergone a lot of subtle changes. The most important one of them is a new Retina display with Full HD resolution in iPhone 8 Plus, and a little greater than HD 750 x 1334 pixels in iPhone 8. The display is to ensure better color reproduction, and, thanks to True Tone technology, it is to adjust the intensity of colors to the lighting conditions of the surrounding.
The sizes of the displays haven't changed - they are still 5.5'' in the Plus model, and 4.7'' in the standard model.

3). Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus Wireless Charging
The whole construction is powered by a totally new 6-core, 64-bit A11 Bionic processor, which is to be one of the fastest processors on the market. 8 Plus model has got 3GB of RAM memory, and 8 model - 2GB, which is a rather weak result for the recent standards.
The wireless charging function is definitely a major step forward. The smartphones are also equipped with the movement and depth detectors, which are to help in using augmented reality and VR in the field. Both models are also splash-proof.

4). Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus Wireless Charging
The new models will appear on the market in a few color versions at the end of September. The prices are as follows: $699 for iPhone 8, and $799 for iPhone 8 Plus.
Phone X is a jubilee surprise presented by Apple today. This smartphone will probably be a representative of a new, most prestigious, line of the producer's cameras, just like Galaxy Note in Samsung. It is equipped with the newest technologies and it is to be the embodiment of Steve Jobs' dreams.

      1). Apple iPhone X
Apple iPhone X offers several new solutions. Just like the last Samsung model, this one also does not have the Home button and the headphone input.

The camera, as that's what we're interested in the most, unfortunately does not surprise us. Practically, it does not differ from the one used in 8 Plus model so we have two 12-Mp sensors. However, the 58mm model has a little better light - f/2.4. The stabilization module also works a bit differently. The two modules are stabilized simultaneously.

      2). iPhone X Camera
The camera is also equipped with the Portrait Lighting function which, with the use of two cameras, automatically creates a "mask" of a photographed person and enables one to simulate various lighting effects on them.

3). Portrait Lighting - Contour Light

4). Portrait Lighting - Stage Light

5). Portrait Lighting - Stage Light Mono
The front camera has undergone more changes. Now, this 7-Mp camera also supports the selfie mode.
The greatest novelty in the smartphone concerns the front camera and it is the possibility of unblocking it by looking into the front camera.
The camera with a huge number of detectors is to support augmented reality, which can be used with such useless functions, as Animoji (emoticon) which imitates our face expressions in real time... We hope that these detectors will be used in more ambitious solutions in the future.

      6). iPhone X Cameras & Sensors
Fortunately, this model has a great film-making mode, which has been used in the lower models - 4K@60p and FHD@240p.

      7). iPhone X Rear Camera
The general specification does not differ much from the one offered by iPhone 8 Plus. We can also find the A11 Bionic processor (8-core), 3 GB of RAM memory and a possibility of quick charge via an inductive charger. We also get a greater effectiveness of the rechargeable battery, which is to enable work for 2 more hours than in the case of iPhone 7.
The display is 5.8'' OLED Super Retina HD display.
Apple iPhone X will appear on the market at the end of November in two versions: 64 and 256GB, in cosmic prices -  $999 for 64GB and $1150 for 256GB.
