Canon EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM Announcement

Canon EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM is the newest lens for macrography equipped with a flash, which frames the front lens. Thanks to this function, we will be able to illuminate a photographed object and neutralize the shadows casted by a camera and a lens. The flash has a possibility of illuminating one or two segments at the same time.

Inside the flash, we have the optical system consisting of 10 lenses placed in 6 groups. As would be expected of a real macro lens, it has a 1:1 mapping, and the minimum focus distance is 30mm.

The lens has been equipped with the Hybrid IS image stabilization technology, which corrects angular and linear displacement of an image, and a quiet, precise STM autofocus motor.

Today, Voigtländer presented its latest manual fixed lenses dedicated for full-frame mirrorless Sony cameras Voigtländer Macro APO Lanthar 110mm f/2.5 and Color-Skopar 21mm f/3.5  The first one should especially interest macrography lovers, and the second one - documentalists and street fans.

Voigtländer Macro APO Lanthar 110mm f/2.5 consists of 14 elements placed in 12 groups. As the producer assures, the designed optical system has been constructed having in mind the latest Sony sensors with high resolution. Apart from that, the lens is to ensure proper resolution, contrast and colours as well as effectively minimize defects, such as chromatic aberration.

The lens is equipped with a 10-blade aperture with the light of f/2.5. Thanks to this, we will be able to get extremely malleable photographs from the minimum distance of 35cm. The filters with the diameter of 58cm can be screwed onto the lens.

The second of the fixed lenses presented today is a compact structure with the dimensions of 62.8×39.9mm. Similarly to the above macro lens, this model is also made of metal.

The optical system of Color-Skopar 21mm f/3.5 Aspherical consists of 9 lenses placed in 8 groups.A 10-blade aperture with the maximum light of  f/3.5 is responsible for image plasticity. Minimum focus distance is 20cm, and the diameter of the filter screwed onto the front element is 52mm.

Canon has presented Speedlite 470EX-AI which is the first flash equipped with Auto Intelligent Bounce function.

Auto Intelligent Bounce technology automatically calculates distance from the surrounding walls and  positions the speedlite head in order to obtain optimal light reflection.

A fully automatic flash mode minimally moves the head with each shot. Thanks to this, a photographer does not have to manually correct its settings every time. The flash is also equipped with a semi-automatic mode, which additionally adjusts the flash angle and the flash head during the change of orientation of the camera.

      1). Canon Speedlite 470EX-AI
Apart from this interesting function,  Speedlite 470EX-AI is quite effective as for the speedlite of this type. The guide number of 47 (ISO 100) and a wide range of focal length covering from 24mm to 105mm (or 14mm, with the use of a built-in adapter), enable a wide range of flash, also with the wide-angle shots.

New Canon Speedlite 470EX-AI has the HSS synchronization mode, thanks to which it is possible to take photographs with the use of a flash, even with the exposure time which exceeds the maximum flash synchronization time.

      2). Canon Speedlite 470EX-AI

Speedlite has wireless control functions, which enable remote triggering as a transmitter and a trigger. As could be expected of such speed lite, the flash is equipped with an LCD screen, facilitating quick reading of parameters and change of settings. A shortcut button  and a control knob ensure convenient access to the saved modes of work and make it possible to fully control the triggered light.

Canon Speedlite 470EX-AI is to appear on sale in April and it will cost $.
Sigma has presented its latest baby -  the 14-24 mm f/2.8 DG HSM Art lens. The lens, thanks to the use  of the newest technologies, is supposed to determine a completely new standard on the market of wide-angle lenses.

Optically, the lens is to be adjusted to the requirements of sensors with a huge number of megapixels, which are more and more often used in cameras. The sensors used in Nikon D850 or Canon 5Ds easily show the weaknesses of the optical system.

      1). Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG HSM Art
Inside the latest Sigma zoom, we are going to find an advanced optical system consisting of 17 elements placed in 11 groups.

Three of them are FLD lenses, the next three are made of low-dispersion SLD glass and there are also three aspherical elements. As a result, the lens should offer perfect contrast and image quality of high resolution.

Besides that, each lens has been covered with anti-reflective coatings which are supposed to ensure effective elimination of light leaks and flares.

      2). Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG HSM Art - Construction
The lens is equipped with a 9-blade round aperture. The angle of view of Sigma 14-24 mm f/2.8 DG HSM Art (for full frame) is 114.2°-84.1°, and the maximum zoom is 1:5.4.

The thing that the producer is proud of is minimal distortion, at the level of 1% (if we adjust focus to infinity), which is certainly a great achievement when it comes to ultra-wide lenses. The photographers using this lens for architecture photography will be extremely satisfied.

A quick and precise HSM motor has been used in the lens. It enables any kind of focusing of a photographed scene, without a need to switch to the MF mode. The minimum focus distance is 26-28cm.

      3). Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG HSM Art
Sigma 14-24 mm f/2.8 DG HSM Art is the first of the producer's lenses from the Art series which has seallings. Possibly, a competitive company - Tamron - has forced Sigma to do this since they have often used this fact in their marketing materials.

The new Sigma is fully sealed, which should be obvious if the lens is to be used by landscape photographers.

Besides that, the lens should also satisfy film-makers.  In order to meet the expectations of such users, the authorized service of the producer offers a payable replacement of a tulip solar cover for the wheel cover, which makes it easier to mount additional accessories.

The lens will be available with Sigma, Nikon and Canon mounts. The lens is also compatible with the MC-11 converter, thanks to which Sony users will have possibilities of connecting the lens with the Canon mount.

Unfortunately, we don't know the price and the date of availability of the 14-24 mm f/2.8 DG HSM Art model.
