A few significant improvements, compared to the first generation from 2010, can be found in the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II lens, presented a few days ago.

The stabilization system has the efficiency of 5EV and it offers three modes of work: for static shots, for photographing of fast-moving objects and for panning shots. The system is also quieter than its predecessor.

The optical system consists of 20 elements placed in 15 groups, including one fluorite lens and two low-dispersion lenses. The front and rear lens have been covered with fluorite coatings, which help in keeping the lenses clean. In order to minimize light flares and light reflections, Super Spectra Coatings were used. The lens is equipped with an ultrasonic ring autofocus drive – the minimum focus distance is 1m.

The lens has the dimensions of 80 x 176mm and it weighs 780g. Canon EF 70-200 mm f/4L IS II is to appear on sale this month and it will cost $1300.
