The second lens which had its premiere today is Fujifilm Fujinon XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR, an ultra-wide angle zoom which ensures the equivalence of 12-24mm f/2.8. This lens will surely be gladly welcomed by many landscape and architecture photographers.
Inside a new wide-angle Fujijon zoom we will find the optical system consisting of 20 elements, placed in 13 groups. Among them there are 4 aspheric lenses, which are supposed to control distortions and spherical aberrations, as well as 3 ED elements and 3 super-ED ones. Additionally, the back part of two front lenses is covered with the Nano-GI coating, which is supposed to eliminate light leaks and flares caused by a diagonal incidence of light on optical elements.

A 9-blade aperture with a nominal f/2.8 hole, which can be closed up to f/22, is responsible for image plasticity. The construction of the lens is supposed to guarantee the advanced image reproduction functions within the whole range of apertures and focal lengths.
2 liner autofocus motors are responsible for focusing. This should positively influence the speed and precision of focus adjustment – also from the minimum focus distance of 25 cm.

New Fujinon is also supposed to work effectively in hard, demanding conditions. The tube is made of magnesium and it is additionally sealed in 11 places. As a result, the lens is to be resistant to dust, splashes and low temperatures (-10° C). The lens weighs 805g and it has the dimensions of 122 x 88mm.
Fujifilm Fujinon XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR is to appear on sale at the end of November. It will cost $2000.
Today Fuji also presented an updated map of lenses. We've found three interesting constructions there: XF 33mm f/1 R WR which ensures the equivalence of 50mm f/1.5, wide-angle fixed lens 16mm f/2.8 and a stabilized zoom 16-80mm f/4.
