FujiFilm GFX 100 - 102MP with Image Stabilization

      News

The compact FujiFilm GFX 50R, which has recently been described by us, was only a starter before a main dish, which is GFX 100. The presented camera is a medium-format one whose heart is a 102MP (43,8 × 32,9mm) sensor with full frame coverage with phase-detection pixels. It is not the first construction on the market equipped with the sensor of such high resolution, but for the first time we have to do with the sensor equipped with image stabilization, thanks to which, with the use of GFX 100, we will be able to make sharp photographs with the use of a tripod.

Videos can be recorded in 4K with the speed of 30f/s. It has been announced that, contrary to GFX 50S and 50R, available filming functions will be significantly expanded.

From the attached photographs, we can see that it is truly oldschool - we will possibly find a set of classic knobs and buttons and the very body will be big and solid, which should encourage the use of big and heavy lenses. A vertical grip was placed at the bottom of the camera's body. It will facilitate making portraits. At the upper wall, we will find an auxiliary LCD screen.

The date of premiere of GFX 100 and its price are not known yet.

Together with the premiere of the new camera, the appearances of new medium-format GF lenses have been announced. GF 50mm f/3.5 R LM WR (the equivalent of 40mm for full frame) and GF 100-200mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR (the equivalent of 79-158mm for full frame) are to appear on the market in 2019. GF 45-100mm f/4 R LM OIS WR (the equivalent of 25-221mm for full frame) is to appear on the market in 2020.

      DESCRIPTION
Fujifilm XF10 is a compact camera of the Premium class – perfect for putting in a holiday backpack.

The camera is equipped with the 24.2MP APS-C sensor with a conventional primary color filter (Bayer filter).

XT10 has a permanently built-in Fujinon 18.5mm f/2.8 lens with the equivalence of 28mm. The photographers willing to reduce the focal length will have an "electronic teleconverter" at their disposal, thanks to which they will be able to narrow the field of vision to 35 or 50mm.

We will be able to save photographs in RAW or JPEG formats, with the maximum speed of 6f/s. The ISO range is 200-12800 and this parameter can be extended to ISO 100 - 51200. The camera is equipped with the 91 - point phase-detection AF.

It will be possible to record videos in 4K with the use of XF10, but only with the speed of 15f/s. In order to record a video with satisfactory smoothness, we will have to resign from 4K and use Full HD (59.94p / 50p / 24p / 23.98p) instead.

At the back of the camera, there is a 3'' LCD touch screen, with the resolution of 1 040 000 points. Unfortunately, it cannot be rotated. The screen is equipped with the option of gesture recognition, with the use of which we will be able to activate the camera's functions. At the back of XF10, we will not find a classic, 4-direction selector nor many dedicated buttons which we could expect. Still, there is an AF joystick, which, apart from enabling the choice of the focus point, will also facilitate menu navigation.

The upper part of the camera is a bit more classic. There we will find the PASM knob with an improved SR+ automated mode as well as a separate exposition knob and a function button.

The new Fujifilm is equipped with Bluetooth, thanks to which we will be able to transfer files to other devices. The process will be facilitated by Fujifilm Camera Remote application. XF10 also offers 11 film simulation modes and 19 filters, including two new ones: 'Rich & Fine' and 'Monochrome'.

The camera has been designed in the retro style. Its housing is angular, with a slightly  rounded handle covered with leatherette. We will have only 2 colors to choose from: black and champagne.

Fujifilm has added a new stabilized tele-lens, Fujinon GF 100-200 mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR to its offer. The lens has been designed having in mind nature photographers and it is the first such a compact and resistant construction which should fulfil the requirements of nature and landscape photographers.

The optical system of the lens consists of 20 elements placed in 13 groups. Among them there are two Extra Low Dispersion elements and an aspherical one. Of course, the lens is equipped with image stabilization and a 9-blade aperture with a nominal hole of f/5.6, which can be closed up to f/32.

1). Fujinon GF 100-200 mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR

The presented lens is also to provide extraordinary achievements when it comes to the speed of focusing. The new Fujifilm tele-zoom applies a linear AF motor, which is supposed to be quiet, precise and fast.

The whole construction has the dimensions of 183 × 90mm and it weighs 1050g. Similarly to the whole series of GF lenses, it is made of magnesium. The whole body has been sealed against weather conditions and dust.
