In 2017, shortly after the premiere of the mirrorless X-T2 camera, its compact X-T20 version was presented. This step must have been effective since FujiFilm has decided to repeat it while introducing the latest mirrorless models, X-T3 and X-T30, on the market.

FujiFilm XT-30 described today is nothing else than a minimized X-T3. It is equipped with the fourth generation X-Trans CMOS APS-C sensor with the BSI structure and the resolution of 26MP. The sensor does not have a low-pass filter. The native range of ISO is 160 – 12800 and it can be extended to ISO 80, 100, 125, 25600 and 51200. The electronic system of the camera is controlled by the latest version of the 4-core image processor, X-Processor 4, which is characterized by greater effectiveness and speed of work than its predecessor.

With the use of the mechanical shutter, FujiFilm X-T30 is able to record materials with the maximum speed of 8f/s. With the use of the electronic shutter and continuous AF, the speed is 30f/s and with the use of 1.25× crop – 30f/s. The films recorded with the use of X-T30 can have the maximum resolution of 4K and can be recorded with the speed of 30 f/s (8-bit 4:2:0, saved on the SD card). In Full HD, the speed increases to 120f/s. We will be able to save films in F-log in the 10-bit 4:2:2 format through the HDMI port. During filming we will have access to FujiFilm plates simulation. The camera also offers the possibility of recording videos in the DCI - 17:9 cinema format.

A very quick AF is based on 2.6 million of phase detection pixels with which the X-Trans sensor is equipped. It is 4 times more than in the previous generation of mirrorless FujiFilm cameras. Phase detection pixels cover around 100% of the frame, which is to ensure instant focusing also on the objects beyond the center of the frame. There are 425 AF points. The autofocus of X-T30 is to be distinguished by quick and precise work, also in hard lighting conditions (even up to -3 EV).

The AF algorithm has been improved – thanks to this, the work of autofocus tracking also got better. Face and eye detection have also been developed. A new "Face Select" function will make it possible to specify which object of the frame is to be a priority when it comes to maintaining focus. The AF has been equipped with eye detection in the AF-C mode and it enables more detailed tracking of the moving face. The advantages of the improved AF are also available during filming.

FujiFilm made efforts not to make the existing users of X-T20 lost while working with the new camera for the first time. Despite the fact that the functionality and the placement of buttons of both cameras are very similar, X-T30 also offers some new things in this regard. Near the screen there is a joystick which changes the placement of AF but there are no function buttons, which is a bit controversial. A touch LCD screen, which can be rotated in two directions, has 3’’ diagonal and the resolution of 1.04MP.  Through the touch screen, we will make all the settings and we will be able to intuitively navigate through the files. We also have virtual buttons at our disposal. The screen of the new camera is now 1.3mm thinner and it better responds to touch. The electronic viewfinder has the resolution of 2.36MP and the zoom of 0.62×.

The camera has the dimensions of 118 × 83 × 47mm and it weighs 383g. It is equipped with 1 SD card slot, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity as well as USB-C connection. A fully-charged battery should enable us to take 380 photographs. The Fujifilm Camera Remote application will be useful in connecting with mobile devices. The application has been enriched by a new interface and the ‘Album’ function in the latest version.

The price will increase to $1000 in a set with the XC 15-45 mm f3.5-5.6 OIS Power Zoom lens, and to $1,300 in a set with 18-55 mm f/2.8-4 lens.
