    Leica Noctilux-M 75mm f/1.25 Announcement

      News

The presented Leica Noctilux-M 75mm f/1.25 ASPH is the second in this century, and the fourth in general, construction which has appeared in the Noctilux series.

A fixed lens, about which many portrait photographers have dreamed, is a fully manual lens, which is supposed to fully extend the new possibilities in this type of photography.

The lens is supposed to ensure a significantly more shallow depth of field than Noktilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH, which is a remarkable achievement. Apart from that, we will get a minimum focus distance of 85cm.

The lens is equipped with a 11-blade aperture, with the maximum nominal slot of f/1.25, which is going to provide a higher-than-average bokeh effect.

The lens has the dimensions of 74x91mm and it weights 1055g so it’s not a compact one. Leica Noctilux-M 75mm f/1.25 ASPH is going to be compatible with the M system, but thanks to a special adapter we will also be able to mount it to the Leica SL lens.

The optical system consists of 9 elements placed in 6 groups, and the whole construction is to be characterized by high resolution and proper correction of all optical defects, which is definitely going to be useful during the work with the lens and new future high-resolution cameras.

Meyer-Optik-Görlitz Primoplan 75mm f/1.9 II is an improved version of the lens from 2016, which is based on the construction developed in the 1930s. Meyer-Optik-Görlitz has announced that the lens will have the character of an original lens, but it will be adjusted to modern requirements.

The optical system consists of 5 lenses made of the optical lenses Schott and OHARA, placed in 4 groups. The system enables focusing from the distance of 21.65’’ (55cm). This distance may be reduced to 9.84’’ (25cm) by mounting an additional lens to a filter thread.

The lens is also equipped with a 14-blade aperture made of steel, which with the light of 1.9 is supposed to ensure unique background blur.

Meyer-Optik-Görlitz Primoplan 75mm f/1.9 II, apart from the versions for Canon EF, Nikon F, Fujifilm X, Leica M and L, M42, MFT, Sony E and Pentax K, will be also offered for medium-format mirrorless systems: Hasselblada and Fujifilm.

The lens will be (possibly) available in September 2018 and it will cost $2500. However, if we decide on the support of the producer in Indiegogo, we will be able to buy this lens for a very attractive price - $799. You can find the project’s website here.

Despite the fact that the latest Leika CL had its premiere more than a week ago, it’s definitely worth mentioning. This camera proves that the German producer of photographic equipment is still treating the sector of APS-C cameras very seriously.

Leica CL is, above all, very ergonomic, which makes the camera very convenient. The camera is equipped with the 24-Mp CMOS sensor, supported by the latest image processor Maestro II, which should enable us to take photographs within the ISO range of 100 – 50000, with the speed up to 10 f/s.

Apart from that, the camera is equipped with a shutter, which should enable work with the speed of up to 1/8000 s or 1/25000 s in the electronic mode, and the 49-point phase-detection autofocus.

We also have a built-in electronic viewfinder with the resolution of 2.36Mp, and two control knobs on the upper panel, which will enable us to quickly control the parameters of the aperture, shutter time, ISO sensitivity and control exposure compensation. The knobs are the pressing ones, enabling us to control two parameters at the same time. A very convenient function is a miniature supporting LCD screen, on which we can quickly see currently used settings.

The battery will enable us to take 220 photographs on a single charge, which is not the best result. The whole body is made of aluminum and magnesium alloys.

The lenses from the TL system as well as the lenses from the M and R systems (through a dedicated adapter) can be connected to the camera.

As could be expected, the camera is not going to be cheap. It’s going to cost $4000. Leica CL is to appear on the market this month.

Today, Leica presented a new wide-angle lens with the equivalent of 27mm, developing a bit a humble, as for now, Leica TL system.

Leica Elmarit-TL 18 mm f/2.8 APSH, as this is the full name of the new lens, is going to be the widest lens of the system. The lens will also be very compact – it has the dimensions of 21x62mm and it weighs 80g so it’s going to be a great companion in reportage photography.

The optical system of the new lens has been built on the basis of 8 lenses placed in 6 groups, among which we have 4 aspheric lenses, which are to guarantee good resolution, both in the centre and on the edges of the frame. The lens will enable focus adjustment from the distance of 30cm from the photographed object. Electronic aperture can be closed up to f/16.

      2). Leica TL Lens Family

The lens is going to be available on the market at the end of November and it’s going to cost $1300.
