Samyang AF 35mm f/1.4 FE Announcement

      News

Samyang AF 35mm f/1.4 FE is a proof that the company has treated the development of the series of lenses with autofocus for full-frame Sony E system very seriously. Three lenses are already available on the market, and the next one has just joined them. Similarly to the previous ones, it has been designed having in mind both enthusiasts and professional photographers, who do not want to spend fortune on the systemic Sony lenses.

The optical system consisting of 11 elements placed in 9 groups is responsible for image quality. Among the elements, we can find 2 aspherical lenses and 2 high-refractive ones. Some of the lenses are covered with Ultra Multi Coating, which minimizes the emergence of light leaks and lens flares. The used optical system and 9-blade aperture are to generate unique image plasticity with soft blurrings and pleasant bokeh effect.

The lens is also equipped with an improved autofocus system – LSM (Linear Super sonic Motor), which is supposed to be quieter, faster and more precise. It is also supposed to work in harder lighting conditions.

The lens weights 645g and possibly does not have any sealings.

New Samyang, thanks to its minimalist design, is very similar to Sony lenses and it will certainly cooperate with full-frame mirrorless cameras of the producer.

We don’t know the exact price of the lens yet, but we can expect it to be below $600, so around $1000 less than Sony Distagon T* FE 35mm f/1.40 ZA.

Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM - a small wide-angle lens dedicated for photographers and filmmakers. Lens has been designed based on thirteen lenses placed in ten groups - two lenses are made in XA (extremely aspherical) technology and three are made of low-dispersion glass.  The lenses are covered with anti-reflective Nano AR coatings, which are to ensure perfect resolution within the whole frame, smooth blurring and unique effects during work against the sunlight. The lens' aperture is made of eleven blades whose closing enables achieving the effective of 22-arm stars at light points - sharp photographs can be taken already from the distance of 24cm. The lens is small, it has the dimensions of 92 x 75mm and it weighs 445g. We can mount filters with the diameter of 67mm on the lens.

Definitely having in mind people who record films with the use of mirrorless Sony cameras, the modes of the lens ring work. The ring responsible for aperture control can work in the continuous mode and the focus ring directly translates to the movement of lenses. Inside the lens, we will find the ultrasonic Direct Drive SSM motor, which, as the producer assures, is now 3x faster than the older constructions and it ensures quiet work.

New manual Samyang MF 85mm f/1.8 ED UMC CS lens with the equivalent of 135mm is dedicated to the users of cameras with the APS-C sensor, namely: Sony E, Fujifilm X and Canon EOS M.

The optical system of the lens consists of nine elements placed in seven groups. Among them we will find one lens with high refractive index and one low-dispersion lens. Covering the lenses with UMC coatings should minimize light reflections and chromatic aberration. The producer assures that new Samyang is to ensure high resolution within the whole frame as well as good contrast and color reproduction.

The lens is fully manual, which means that the control is provided by physical rings which regulate aperture and sharpness. Depending on the camera's system on which we are going to mount the lens, its equivalence will be 127 to 136mm. Sharp photographs with the use of the lens can taken from the distance of 65cm, the aperture consists of nine blades and the filters with the diameter of 62mm can be mounted on the front lens. The lens is not big since it's only 8cm in length and it weighs 344g.

New Samyang will be available on sale at the beginning of September and it will cost $399.

In July, the users of Pentax digital reflex cameras will be able to enjoy the benefits of a new, bright lens - FA* 50 mm f/1.4 SDM AW. Unfortunately, out of the pair of modern ”Star” lenses (HD Pentax-D FA* 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW and HD PENTAX-DA 11-18mm f/2.8), announced this year, only the first one will appear on sale. The premiere of the second one is scheduled for 2019.

Pentax FA* 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW is a fixed lens. Its optical system consists of 15 lenses placed in 9 groups (3 apsherical lenses, 1 made of abnormal-dispersion glass). The aperture of the lens is made of 9 blades and the minimum focus distance is 40 cm.

The new AF ring motor is supposed to ensure a 7.5x greater torque from the one in the previous constructions of this producer. The effect of this is quicker and more accurate focusing.

      2). Pentax FA* 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW

The properties of the aperture and the coatings of the lenses: HD, Aero Bright II and Super Coating, are supposed to ensure the background blur and good contrast in hard lighting conditions. Light reflections and flares are supposed to be kept to a minimum. The coatings of the lenses enable keeping them clean.

      3). Pentax FA* 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW

The lens is, of course, sealed and splash-proof. Since the electromagnetic aperture has been applied in the lens, we will be able to use it only with the latest models of Pentax cameras: K-1 Mark II, K-1, K-3 II, K-3, KP, K-70, K-S2 or K-S1.

Pentax FA* 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW is to appear on sale at the end of July and the price of the lens, as at today, is $1200. You can preorder this lens here.
