Tokina FíRIN 20mm f/2.0 FE AF Announcement

      News

Tokina Fírin 20mm f/2.0 FE AF is a fixed lens which has been designed having in mind a full-frame Sony E system. The first version of the lens had the same parameters but it was not equipped with the autofocus. This version will not disappear from the market but it will be a manual alternative of the lens.

Inside the new lens, we will find an advanced optical system consisting of 13 elements placed in 11 groups. Among them, we will find two aspherical lenses and three super-low dispersion lenses, whose task is to minimize aberration and image distortion.  In addition, the lenses have been covered with anti-reflective coatings.

The lens is equipped with the 9-blade aperture, which can be regulated within the scope of f/2 to f/22.

The optical system of the new Sony lens is based on 23 lenses placed in 17 groups, 3 of which are low-dispersion fluorite lenses. In order to ensure good balance of the lens, the lenses have been placed in the central and rear parts of the system. The lenses are covered with anti-reflective and fluorine coatings, which enable keeping them clean.

The lens is equipped with a 11-blade aperture. Two newly-designed linear motors, which are supposed to facilitate the tracking of moving objects, are responsible for the functioning of the autofocus. At our disposal, we have 3 modes of image stabilization and a sharpening clutch. On the side of the lens, we have function buttons, including Full-Time DMF switch, which enables continuous manual sharpening.

One of the main advantages of the lens is its construction. It has the dimensions of 158 × 359mm, it weighs only 2.7kg and it is supposed to enable, in special circumstances, photographing ”from hand”. The lens is made of magnesium and is, of course, sealed. Inserted filters with the diameter of 40.5mm can be used on the lens. In the case of using 1.4× and 2× converters, the brightness will decrease by, respectively, f/4 and f/5.6.

Today, a new Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS, the newest G Lens representative, also had its premiere. Exceptional image quality, quick and precise autofocus, and compact construction are the greatest advantages of the new lens.

The lens consists of 17 elements, placed in 14 groups. Among them there are four aspheric lenses, including two incredibly precise AA lenses. The front lens has a fluorine coating, which prevents the settling of dust, water, grease, and other forms of contamination.

The universality of the lens is additionally increased by elements such as a focus memory button with the function defined by the user, or the minimum focus distance of 38cm.

The lens will be available on sale in November. It will cost around $1,300.
