    Yongnuo YN 35mm f/1.4 Announcement

      News

Yongnuo is not wasting time - the YN 35mm lens described today is the fourth lens of the producer about which we are informing this year.  The main properties of  the lens concern the complex optical system with the advanced defect correction, good resolution,  effective autofocus and resistant body. This bright full-frame camera may become an interesting proposition for the fans of street, reportage or even portrait photography.

The optical system of the lens is based on 11 elements placed in 9 groups - among them we will find two aspherical lenses and two low-dispersion ones. Yet another procedure used by the producer in order to minimize the appearance of the light flares and light leaks is covering the lenses with several anti-reflective coatings. The aperture of the lens consists of 7 blades and its nominal hole is f/1.4. The minimum focus distance is 35cm.

The effective DC Motor is responsible for the speed of work of the autofocus. Thanks to it, the AF is to be quick, precise and it should work well even in the "Live View" mode. On the body of the lens, we will find a frame which facilitates manual focusing and which shows the scale of the hyperfocal distance. Thanks to the USB connection, it will be possible to update the lens' software.

Yongnuo YN 35mm f/1.4 is equipped with gold-plated contacts and the metal mount has been covered with the chrome layer. All of this is supposed to positively influence electrical conductivity and general durability of the lens. The device has the dimensions of 82 × 111mm and it weighs 810g.

The detailed specification of the lens is not known yet. Unfortunately, we also don't know when YN 35mm f/1.4 will appear on sale and how much it will cost.

A Chinese producer Yongnuo is strengthening its position among the producers of budget photography equipment.  The latest proposition of Yongnuo is the EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens. Its predecessor, Yongnuo 50mm f/1.8 appeared on the market in 2014 and we remember it mainly because of its huge similarities to Canon EF 50 mm f/1.8 and, of course, the price which was much power than its predecessor's.

The producer assures that the II generation is equipped with an improved optical system and a more efficienct AF. The optical system consists of 6 lenses placed in 5 groups, just like its predecessor's. However, the latest construction ensures  46-grade angle of view and the zoom of 0.21x. The new technology of coatings is supposed to ensure the minimization of reflections and light reflections, which can occur during taking photographs in hard conditions.  The focusing speed, precision of focal length and light permeability have also been improved.

The 50mm focal length and the 7-blade aperture with the light of f/1.8 are responsible for focusing. Thanks to them, we can achieve round bokeh and soft blurring. On the lens, we can mount filters with the diameter of 58mm.

The minimum focus distance is now 35cm - this parameters has been improved by 10cm. In manual focus adjustment, the focusing distance indicator, which is on the front of the lens, will be useful.

      2). Yongnuo YN 50mm f/1.8 II

Yongnuo YN 50mm f/1.8 II is a compact construction, its dimensions are 75 x 52mm and it weighs 162g. The housing is made of plastic but the whole thing looks solid.  The longevity of the Chinese camera should be ensured by the metal bayonet, covered with chrome. In order to avoid problems with the compatibility of various computer operating systems, the producer has resigned from the possibility of direct connection of the lens to computers with the use of the USB cable. YN 50mm f/1.8 II can be updated via the camera.

At the moment, Yongnuo YN 50mm f/1.8 II is available on Ebay. It costs $74 in the version intended for Canon cameras.

Samyang AF 35mm f/1.4 FE is a proof that the company has treated the development of the series of lenses with autofocus for full-frame Sony E system very seriously. Three lenses are already available on the market, and the next one has just joined them. Similarly to the previous ones, it has been designed having in mind both enthusiasts and professional photographers, who do not want to spend fortune on the systemic Sony lenses.

The optical system consisting of 11 elements placed in 9 groups is responsible for image quality. Among the elements, we can find 2 aspherical lenses and 2 high-refractive ones. Some of the lenses are covered with Ultra Multi Coating, which minimizes the emergence of light leaks and lens flares. The used optical system and 9-blade aperture are to generate unique image plasticity with soft blurrings and pleasant bokeh effect.

The lens is also equipped with an improved autofocus system – LSM (Linear Super sonic Motor), which is supposed to be quieter, faster and more precise. It is also supposed to work in harder lighting conditions.

The lens weights 645g and possibly does not have any sealings.

New Samyang, thanks to its minimalist design, is very similar to Sony lenses and it will certainly cooperate with full-frame mirrorless cameras of the producer.

We don’t know the exact price of the lens yet, but we can expect it to be below $600, so around $1000 less than Sony Distagon T* FE 35mm f/1.40 ZA.
