Tony01
If I pay someone to model for me in a private setting, including portraits and nude photos, but I don't have a model release, can I enter them in a photography contest? Can I post them on my website? Can I sell them where they are used for commercial purposes like in advertising?
Editors MICHAEL GABLER Posted November 13, 2022 Editors Share Posted November 13, 2022 If you live in the US then you really should have (you really must have in the case of nudity photos) a model release or some form of contract to use the photo commercially, or to promote your business. If you start using such photos commercially, in theory nothing will happen, but the model may ask you not to use them, and in extreme cases may take legal action. If you have paid a model for such a shoot you should have no problem getting such a model release signed, even after the shoot.
