  1. Two new Nikon Coolpix A1000 and B600 cameras, which offer 35× and 60× zooms, can be treats for the amateurs of big zooms. Both cameras have been equipped with the CMOS BSI 16MP sensors. A1000 is a bit more versatile model from the two Nikon cameras described today. It enables both recording wide-angle shots and big-zoom shots. The camera has been equipped with the Nikkor lens, which offers 35× optical zoom with the equivalent of 24 - 840mm and the variable light of f/3.4 - 6.9. At the back of the housing, there is a useful zoom lever. There is also a fast lens retract button. 1). Nikon A1000 If the 35× zoom is not enough for someone, we also have the Dynamic Fine Zoom function at our disposal, thanks to which we will achieve the equivalent of the focal length of 1680mm. During photographing, we will use the optical vibration reduction and during recording films we will use a hybrid stabilization system. 2). Nikon A1000 The camera’s CMOS 1/2.3" (4,8 × 3,6mm) sensor has the resolution of 16MP and it ensures the ISO sensitivity of 6400. Taken photographs will be saved in the RAW format. The films can be recorded in 4K UHD (with the speed of 30f/s) or in Full HD (with the speed of 60f/s). A function which is worth mentioning is "D-Lighting", thanks to which the camera will be able to extract more details in the brightest and darkest portions of the frame. Coolpix A1000 is equipped with the electronic viewfinder with the resolution of 1166px and the 3" touch LCD screen with the resolution of 1,036,000px – the screen can be rotated vertically. The ergonomics of the camera is ensured by the function button, the PASM knob and the knob responsible for exposition compensation. The connection with mobile devices is facilitated by the SnapBridge application. The camera’s body has the dimensions of 114,2 × 71,7 × 40,5mm and it weighs 330g. The second from the cameras described today is a bit more radical offer. The primary trait of Nikon Coolpix B600 is its range since the camera offers 60× zoom with the functional equivalent of 24 - 1440mm. With the use of the Dynamic Fine Zoom function, this value can be increased to 2880mm. 3). Nikon B600 The heart of the camera is the CMOS BSI sensor with the resolution of 16MP, which is supported by the EXPEED image processor. The photographs in the RAW format can be taken with the sensitivity up to ISO 6400. B600 offers 19 thematic programs and the creative mode which consists of 36 different color effects. 4). Nikon B600 Nikon Coolpix B600 does not have some important functions which we will find in A1000 – the camera does not have a viewfinder, the LCD (3", 921,000px) screen is mounted permanently and the films recorded with the use of B600 will have the maximum resolution of Full HD/30p. The camera has been equipped with a quick AF, the PASM knob and the Snap-back function, useful in the work with the camera of big zoom range. B600 is compatible with the SnapBridge software, its dimensions are 121,6 × 81,5 × 99,2mm and it weighs 500g. The cameras are to appear on sale this month and they are not available in USA.
  2. During the last Photokina fairs, we could see the prototypes of full-frame Panasonic S1 and S1R for the first time, but their official premieres took place only a few days ago. The cameras are very similar to each other when it comes to the construction, but they have different sensors and offer different film-making functions. Panasonic Lumix S1R SR1 is a more advanced construction of the two. The camera has been equipped with the 47.3MP CMOS sensor with the nominal ISO range of ISO 100 - 25600. The Venus Engine image processor and a new system of micro-lenses are responsible for high detailedness, wide dynamics, perfect color mapping and a low level of noise while taking photographs at high sensitivities. The users will be able to create profiles of JPEG files on their own, use the automatic white balance mode with white priority as well as save RAW photographs in the HGL mode. 1). Panasonic Lumix S1R The camera’s high resolution mode will make it possible to take photographs with the resolution of up to 187MP. It will take place through combining 8 frames taken with proper shifting. This function is based on the sensor stabilization system. The photographs taken in the high resolution mode can be saved in the RAW format. 2). Panasonic Lumix S1R Panasonic S1R has been equipped with the stabilization with the effectiveness of 5.5EV and the AF supported with artificial intelligence. The stabilization’s effectiveness can be increased to 6EV if we use the O.I.S lens, Dual I.S system. During film-making, we will be able to use the stabilization at the level of 6EV if we apply 24-105mm f/4 or 70-200mm f/4 lenses. 3). Panasonic Lumix S1R Image Stabilisation The DFD (Depth From Defocus) autofocus system is based on phase detection – it is Panasonic’s original solution which has proved its high efficiency many times. The system works with the speed of 480f/s and it enables focusing within 0.08s. The AF’s possibilities will be used fully when we apply the electronic shutter. The camera’s “Artificial Intelligence” recognizes objects such as people, dogs, cats or birds, tracks them and anticipates their subsequent movements. The AI’s work is supported by the face, eye and pupil detection systems. Although it is the second from the cameras described today which has been designed having in mind photographing more dynamic actions, S1R is not far behind. With full AF support, the series of photographs can be takes with the speed of 6f/s or 9f/s (in the case of single measurement). With the use of the 6K Photo and 4K Photo modes, we will take 18MP or 8MP photographs with the speed of, respectively, 30f/s and 60f/s. Since the first contact with S1R last year, we knew that Panasonic will put a lot of effort in order to satisfy the film-making lovers. The camera records in 4K with the speed of 60f/s, or in Full HD with the speed of 180f/s – the material is saved directly on SD or XQD cards. The camera is equipped with the headphone and microphone connectors. Still, the film-making lovers should pay more attention to the extended possibilities of the S1 model in this regard. Panasonic Lumix S1 S1 is equipped with the 24MP sensor with the ISO range of 100 – 51200. The photographs taken in the high resolution mode can have even 96MP. When it comes to photography, these are the only differences in comparison to the S1R model, which has just been described. The cameras have the same body so they do not differ in terms of ergonomics. They are also equipped with the same AF, stabilization and continuous shooting modes. A big advantage of S1 is a much more extended film-making system and a much lower price. 4). Panasonic Lumix S1R Panasonic S1 records films in 4K with the speed of 60f/s and saves them directly on SD or XQD cards. The camera offers 8-bit save with 4:2:0 sampling. In the case of using an external recorder, films can be saved with 4:2:2 sampling. For 2019, the producer has announced sharing the key to the software thanks to which we will unlock the 10-bit 4:2:2 save in 30f/s, in the case of saving on cards, or 60f/s, in the case of a recorder. The update will enable the use of a flat V-Log image profile. In Full HD, we will save material with the speed of 180f/s, whereas the Hybrid Log Gamma (HGL) profile will enable easy creation of the materials with extended dynamics. We will also have a possibility of controlling the gamma curve and the selection of standards, such as Like709 or Cinelike D/V. With the use of S1 we will also be able to record videos in the HEVC (H.265) standard. The camera is also equipped with the headphone and microphone connectors. The bodies of the two cameras are identical – they are made of magnesium, fully sealed and resistant to splashes and dust. They can work in low temperatures, up to -10°C. The arrangement of buttons and knobs of both cameras is very functional. They both have the AF joystick. The body is crowned with the OLED electronic viewfinder of record-high detailedness, whose resolution amounts to 5.76MP, contrast – 10 000:1 and the refresh rate – 120f/s. The viewfinder has zoom regulated within the range of 0.7-0.78×. 5). Panasonic Lumix S1R The touch screens of the cameras can be rotated in both ways and they have the diagonal of 3.2’’. Their resolution is 2.1MP and they are equipped with the night mode and the Live View Boost function, which should facilitate night work with the cameras. The backlit buttons and a very big auxiliary screen placed on the upper panel are also of certain importance. Two slots for the SD and XQD cards should make it possible to work with the CFexpress cards soon. The camera’s shutter lifetime is estimated for 400 thousand cycles. S1 and S1R offer the shortest flash synchronization time in their class – it amounts to 1/320s. The cameras have been equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, thanks to which we will get a possibility of controlling cameras and we will have continuous connectivity with the devices such as smartphones. Wi-fi and Bluetooth will also enable immediate sending of files through Lumix Sync. Lumix Tether will be responsible for tethering with the use of the USB cable. The cameras will appear on sale in April. The body of S1 will cost $2,500 and S1R – $3,700. The cameras will be also available in the sets with the 24-105mm f/4 lens, and their prices will then amount to, respectively, $3,400 and $4,600. Together with the premiere of the cameras, numerous accessories, for instance the battery grip, the flash, the eyecup and the adapter enabling powering the camera with the use of the charger, will also appear on sale.

CamFi Pro, which was presented a year ago, had one significant disadvantage, which could scare away many potential customers or even decide about a failure of the whole project - CamFi Pro sent photographs exclusively to an external application. The producers had noticed this problem on time and they've presented CamFi Pro Plus, with the use of which the tethering of photographs will take place without unnecessary intermediaries. After connecting CamFi Pro Plus with a camera, we can transfer files wirelessly, control the camera's settings and save photographs taken in the focus stacking technique and in HDR. The service works in the 802.11 ac standard in the 5.8GHz band, which enables wireless transfer of files with the speed of 10MB/s. 1). CamFi Pro Plus As we've already mentioned at the beginning of the article, the main innovation in the third generation of CamFi is a possibility of tethering files directly to the applications chosen by a user. It can be Lightroom, Capture One or other software for image processing. Apart from the transfer of files and a possibility of remotely controlling the camera, CamFi Pro Plus enables a convenient preview of files (Live View) on the screens of external devices as well as sending photographs for printing. Currently, the device is compatible with more than 500 models of cameras. 2). CamFi Pro Plus Ecosystem CamFi Pro Plus is available for $339. The users of CamFi from the previous generations may use an upgrade of the devices to the currently specification - such an upgrade costs $40.

Having in mind the users of the flagship Olympus OM-D E-M1X body, which was described yesterday, the producer introduces a new FL-700WR flash, a wireless FC-WR flash commander and the FR-WR receiver. Olympus FL-700WR is a small but versatile and effective flash. Its body has been sealed and it is resistant to splashes and dust - the flash will work in very low temperatures. Its maximum guide number is 42 (ISO 100) and the reload time is 1.5s, which enables taking serial photographs with the use of flash with the speed of 10f/s. Thanks to the use of radio communication, the flash can be used as a flash commander but also as a flash with the in-built receiver. With the use as the commander, the flash will connect with three groups of receivers and with the unlimited number of flashes. The flash user can choose the group which is to be activated and the flash power. In the RC mode (optical communication), flashes can be used in the "slave flash" mode. The "Multi Flash" mode enables catching movement thanks to multiple flashes while taking photographs with long exposition and the bulb time. In order to choose the settings adjusted optimally to the photographed object, we can choose the intensity, interval (frequency) and the number of taken photographs in a series. With the use of FL-700WR, we will use High Res Shot, Focus Stacking and Focus Bracketing functions offered by OM-D E-M1X and OM-D E-M1 Mark II camera. 1). Olympus FL-700WR Flash Super PP mode: it's a mode in which we can synchronize the flash time with the shutter speed shorter than the shortest flash synchronization time for a given camera model. A possibility of synchronization with the first or second curtain - the flash takes place during the opening or closing the shutter. TTL mode: the flash makes a pre-flash in order to measure the demanded intensity of a given flash. LED lighting: the flash has been equipped with the lighting which is useful during taking photographs. The angle of the light beam in the distance of 1m amounts to 77° and the light intensity to 100 luxes. 2). Olympus FL-700WR Flash The angle of reflection can be regulated by 180° horizontally and 90° vertically. With the use of the reflected light plate and the diffuser, the angle of the flash is equivalent to the 7mm focal length (35mm equivalent: 14mm) Automatic zoom: during the use of the lenses with the focal length of 12 - 75mm (the eqivalent of 35mm: 24-150mm) we can change the angle of the flash. At the end of charging, the flash generates an audible sound. 3). Olympus FC-WR Flash Commander With the use of the wireless FC-WR flash commander and the wireless FR-WR receiver, we can control many flashes from the level of the camera. The commander can connect with three groups of receivers and with the unlimited number of flashes. The FC-WR commander has been equipped with independent buttons of groups A, B and C, which enables its convenient configuration - we will also adjust flash intensity and choose a proper photography mode. Both in FC-WR and FR-WR we will easily set groups and channels. Similarly to the flash described above, the devices of a new remote triggering system are resistant to splashes, dust and low temperatures up to -10°C. 4). Olympus FC-WR Sealings Olympus FL-700WR flash, the wireless FC-WR flash commander and the FR-WR receiver are to appear on sales at the end of February. Their prices remain unknown.
  5. OM-D E-M1X has been created based on the 20.4MP Live Mos sensor with the ISO range of 200-6400, which can be extended to 64-25000. The producer assures that the quite vintage sensor has been produced in a newer technology, which is to ensure greater sensitivity and this, in turn, to positively influence the quality of photographs taken in low light. The ultrasonic filter, which vibrates 30 thousand times per second, should hinder the sensor getting dirty during lens swapping. The TruePic VII processor is responsible for controlling all of the camera’s functions. The continuous shooting mode of the new Olympus enables taking photographs in full resolution with full AF support and the speed of 18f/s or 60f/s (if we disable focus). In the Pro Capture mode, the camera saves 35 frames in the RAW format in the buffer even before we push the camera’s shutter to the end. Of course, the AF system has also been improved: it is a system based on phase detection and 121 cross-type points, and its sensitivity amounts to -6EV (f/1.2 lenses). We get a much greater freedom of choosing the optimal AF mode of work. The AF has been equipped with new algorithms responsible for tracking objects – the system recognizes and analyzes the movement of objects on the photographs in real time. The function of intelligent object detection is supposed to track the moving objects (cars, planes, etc.) which show up in the frame. "High Res Shot" – this phrase will be mentioned many times and we will possibly see it in every promotional material encouraging people to buy OM-D E-M1X. The mode enables taking sharps photographs “from the hand” with the resolution up to 50MP. Of course, this “magic” takes place through combining several frames. In the case of using a tripod, with the use of High Res Shot we will take photographs with the maximum resolution of 80MP. In both cases the data concern RAW photographs. 1). Olympus OM-D E-M1X + Olympus M.Zuiko ED 300mm f/4 IS PRO Future equipment expenses will be limited by the ND filter simulation mode ND (within the range ND2 - ND32) and the Flicker Scan technology which is supposed to reduce the artifacts which may appear during taking photographs in artificial, flickering light with the use of the electronic shutter. Here, it’s worth mentioning the use of the improved heat dissipation system which is to extend the durability of the standard mechanical shutter by 400 thousand cycles. The sensor stabilization system has also been improved – it amounts to 7.5EV for the focal length of 100mm (the equivalent of 200mm for full-frame systems). This time, Olympus has not forgotten about film-makers – in the Cinema mode we can record films in 4K 4096 × 2160px with the speed of 24f/s, and in standard 4K 3840 × 2160px with the speed of 30f/s (with the use of IPB or All-I compression). The Full HD materials can be recorded in slow motion with the speed of 120f/s – a flat OM-Log 400 profile is also present. During film-making, we will fully use the stabilization system. We also have 3 specially created modes and a useful focus peaking function. A possibility of connecting a microphone and headphones as well as a rotating screen are conveniences which should satisfy vloggers. 2). Olympus OM-D E-M1X Olympus OM-D E-M1X has been fully designed from scratch which is to ensure faster and more efficient work. The camera has been equipped with a vertical grip inside of which we will find two BLH-1 batteries. A fully-charged battery enables taking 2580 photographs. Charging the battery can be done directly in the camera and it takes 2 hours. A new multifunctional selection disc is now in the upper part of the camera’s housing and the re-designed ISO button enables more intuitive work. A novelty is a button dedicated for the settings of saving files on cards. As could be expected from a modern construction, all buttons and manipulators are now more accentuated and easier for intuitive find. The new camera has also much more buttons with the possibilities of assigning a particular function. The use of the AF joystick is also a new thing in the OM-D series. The body’s resistance has been improved – it is protected against dust and splashes. The camera is supposed to work properly in the temperatures up to -20º. On the housing, there are 2 SD UHS-II card slots, the GPS module and the set of detectors: thermometer, compass and manometer, which should enrich the information about the circumstances in which particular photographs were taken. The electronic viewfinder has the resolution of 2.36MP (0.83× zoom) and the rotating touch screen has the diagonal of 3.2". The functions of wireless connectivity have also been expanded – the camera is equipped with the Wi-Fi tethering. 3). Olympus OM-D E-M1X + Olympus M.Zuiko ED 300mm f/4 IS PRO Olympus OM-D E-M1X with the batteries weighs 997g and its dimensions are 144,4 × 146,8 × 75,4mm. The camera will appear on sale at the end of February 2019 and its price will possibly amount to $3000. Together with the camera, the following things will also be available: a new flash and the 150 - 400mm f/4.5 lens equipped with the 1.25× converter.
  6. Darktable is an advanced tool for editing RAW photographs and a main rival of a popular Adobe Lightroom. After the update to the 2.6 version, the program has been expanded by a series of new functions. Among other things, a tool for cloning and removing objects from photographs, a module responsible for colors and a possibility of simulating the characteristics of photographic plates have been introduced. In the new version of Darktable, we will find a new module intended for retouching photographs. It has also been equipped with the tools for local removal of objects with intelligent cloning, which give a possibility of individual action at a given level of detailedness - it should be a solution similar to the one known from the Adobe software, namely "spot removal tool". The module which simulates the use of various films should enable achieving the effects similar to the ones achieved thanks to the analog photography. The new tool is a combination of work with tone curve and sliders responsible for contrast, exposition and recovering details in too dark and too bright places of the frame. The "color balance" module has been designed, thanks to which we will achieve more control over colors. An improvement in functionality has also been achieved when it comes to the control of blurring of the blending mask of a chosen object. The new "duplicate manager" function will enable storing the duplicates of many versions of RAW files, which should facilitate the management of file library. We can install the Darktable software on the computers which work in Windows, Mac OS and Linux environments. We should remember that the update introduces a change in the format of the database and that after switching to version 2.6, we will not be able to return to the previous version. If we want to ensure a possibility of returning to the previous version, we have to remember about making a backup of our database. Darktable in the 2.6 version can be downloaded from www.darktable.org.
  7. Exactly a year after the premiere of Mate 10 Pro, Huawei presented its successor - Mate 20 Pro. According to the latest trends, at the back of the smartphone we will find 3 lenses with the combined optical range from 16 to 80mm and everything will be, of course, supported by “artificial intelligence”. Mate 20 Pro, is – as the producer assures – the strongest smartphone in the company’s history, but we are going to focus on its photography properties. As we’ve already mentioned, the smartphone is equipped with a triple Leica camera module which consists of: An ultra-wide 20MP lens with the equivalent of 16mm and the light of f/2.2, which gives a possibility of focusing from the distance of 2.5cm. PDAF/Laser AF. A 8MP telelens with the equivalent of 80mm and the light of f/2.4. PDAF/Laser AF. A 40MP wide-angle 1/1.7’’ lens with the equivalent of 27mm and the light of f/1.8. PDAF/Laser AF. The total range of lenses is 16 - 80mm – but thanks to the use of the latest digital zoom technology we can go a step further and increase this parameter to 270mm. The lens at the front panel of the smartphone has the resolution of 24 megapixels and, apart from detailed and expressive self-portraits, it is responsible for 3D Face Unlock functions. It can also be used in the process of authorization, for instance during mobile transactions. 1). Huawei Mate 20 Pro The artificial intelligence of Huawei Mate 20 Pro "is learning the user’s way of work” and thanks to the knowledge obtained in this way it is to significantly increase the comfort of work with the smartphone and automatically adjust the photography parameters to the surroundings. The smartphone’s sensor works within an impressive ISO range reaching 51200. The photography modes which are worth mentioning include: Super HDR, which "brings out the best" from 10 RAW photographs and creates one perfectly vivid shot out of them, and Portrait Color, which “separates the filmed color object from the converted monochromatic background.” 2). Huawei Mate 20 Pro While writing about the latest flagship Huawei camera, we cannot forget about non-photography parameters of the device. Mate 20 Pro has the 9-core Kirin 980 processor created in the 7nm technology, 6 or 8GB of RAM and 128 or 256GB of in-built memory. The smartphone’s memory can be expanded with the use of NM cards (nanoSD). The OLED screen with the proportions of 19, 5:9 has the diagonal of 6.39" and the resolution of 3120 × 1440px. It is folded on the sides and covered with Gorilla Glass. The body of Huawei Mate 20 Pro is made of glass and metal and its dimensions are 157,8 × 72,3 × 8,6mm. In the big body we will find a big battery with the capacity of 4200mAh. The whole construction is waterproof and it meets the IP68 norm. The smartphone can be already bought on eBay for $1,150 and Huawei confirms the Mate 20 isn’t coming to the U.S. 😕
  8. The arms race when it comes to a number of lenses in-built in smartphones has fully unleashed. If you think that 3 lenses at the back of LG V40 ThinQ, which was described today, is a lot, please wait for Samsung A9 – it has four of them! LG V40 ThinQ, besides three lenses placed at the back of the smartphone, is equipped with two front lenses for selfies. The back lenses are in short: 12MP (1.4μm) with the f/1.5 lens and the equivalent of 27mm. 16MP wide-angle module with the equivalent of 16mm and the brightness of f/1.9. 12MP telelens with the light of f/2.4 and the equivalent of 52mm. Taking into account the parameters of the lenses, it seems that we can expect very good results during taking photographs at light deficit. One of the curiosities should be the CineShot mode thanks to which we will be able to record the so-called moving photographs – images on which some of the elements of a static shot move. 1). LG V40 ThinQ Fast AF in the new LG is based on phase-detection pixels. "Artificial intelligence” is also present in the smartphone – at our request, it will crop a photograph for us and propose optimal parameters during photographing a given scene. The first of the two cameras placed at the front of the phone has the resolution of 8MP and the light of f/1.9, the second one has the resolution of 5MP and it is a wide-angle f/2.2 module. By combining their strengths, the cameras take photographs, for instance, with the effect of background blurring and there is also a possibility of controlling its intensity. 2). LG V40 ThinQ LG V40 ThinQ means, of course, not only an impressive number of lenses – the subsystems on the basis of which the smartphone was created are also remarkable. The heart of the device is the 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, the graphic side is controlled by the Adreno 630 system and the whole construction is supported by 6GB of RAM. The OLED screen has the resolution of 1440 × 31120px (QHD) and the diagonal of 6,4", ppi is 527 and the whole thing has been covered with Gorilla Glass of the fifth generation. The smartphone will be available in the versions with 64 or 128GB of in-built memory. On the housing, we will find a microSD card slot. There is also the Jack 3,5mm headphone connector - the in-build battery has the capacity of 3399mAh. The date of the premiere and the price of LG V40 ThinQ are not known yet.
  9. After the loud premiere of full-frame mirrorless Canon and Nikon, Panasonic becomes their competitor by presenting two Lumix models: S1 and S1R. Will Panasonic surprisingly become the author of the most interesting premiere of the year? Let's find out. S1R is equipped with the 47MP sensor and S1 - with the 24MP sensor. Both cameras enable the recording of videos in 4K with the speed of 60f/s. The lenses with the L mounts, which, as the producer informed, becomes an open standard supported and developed by Panasonic, Leica and Sigma, can be mounted on the cameras. 1). Panasonic Lumix S1 and S1R There are many black holes in the specification of cameras announced by Panasonic, but we know that with regard to S1R and S1 we can expect the Micro Four Third system, a quick AF based on DFD technology (supported by AI), sensor stabilization, 3" touch LCD screen rotated in many directions and exceptional time of synchronization of the flash and the lamp. The cameras will also be equipped with the highest-quality electronic viewfinder, auxiliary LCD screens and two memory card slots - one in SD format and one in XQD. The cameras' bodies are protected against splashes and dust. 2). Panasonic Lumix S1 and S1R We can talk about the ergonomics of the Panasonic cameras only based on the slides presented during the conference. Function buttons placed near the mounts, dedicated buttons as well as the mode knob combined with the PASM knob placed on the upper wall show the expanded ergonomics of the camera. The back of the camera has not been shown. 3). Panasonic Lumix S1 and S1R New lenses were presented with new cameras. Three of them: 50mm f/1.4, 24-105mm and 70-200mm should satisfy basic needs of photographers. As for now, there are 8 compatible constructions to choose from in Leica's offer and Sigma lenses are to see the light of day soon. Panasonic lenses are to be available until 2020. The premiere of new Panasonic cameras is announced for the beginning of 2019. Then we will get to know the prices of S1R and S1.
  10. Traditionally in September, the Apple conference, during which three new iPhone smartphones: Xs, Xs Max and Xr were presented, took place. The producer has announced a real revolution in smartphone photography. Let's see how true that is. One thing should be said directly - there is no equipment revolution in photography and new iPhones do not significantly differ in this matter compared to their predecessors. iPhone Xs and Xs Max are equipped with a pair of 12MP cameras with 28mm and 56mm lenses with the brightness of f/1.8 and f/2.4. The cameras have optical stabilization. The Xr model has only one camera with the resolution of 12MP, with the f/1.8 lens. The sensor of the camera is of 1/2.6" size and an individual pixel's size of 1,4μm. Such a construction should bring an opportunity of taking much better photos in low light. In the cases of a lack of light, we have an improved flash at our disposal. 1). iPhone Xs Max Camera The main novelty concerning taking photographs with the use of new iPhones seems to be the Smart HDR mode in which the camera takes eight photographs and then creates one balanced frame. Another improvement is the "portrait mode" in which background blurring has been significantly improved in comparison to older iPhones. The level of background blurring can be regulated after taking a photograph. On the front of the smartphones, we will find a well-known set of detectors thanks to which we can unlock our smartphone by showing our face. The "selfie" camera has the resolution of 7MP and the lens' brightness is f2/2. The background blurring effective can be achieved also with the use of the photographs taken by the front camera. Video registered with the use of the new iPhone Xs and Xs Max is maximally of 4K resolution and can be recorded with the speed of 60f/s. - so there's no breakthrough here. Still, the producer has announced that thanks to better image processing the recorded films are to be characterized by better colors and a wider dynamic range - unfortunately, we can achieve this only by recording videos with the speed lower than 30f/s. Full HD films can be registered with the speed of 240f/s. Four microphones in the device are responsible for good sound quality. 2). iPhone Xs All three presented smartphones are "framelds" constructions. In Xs and Xs Max models, OLED screens with the dimensions of, respectively: 5,8" (2436 × 1125 px) and 6,5" (2688 × 1242px) are used. Pixel density is 458ppi, contrast - 1.000.000:1 and brightness - 625cd/m2. The screens support HDR technology. The screen of iPhone Xr is a bit poorer since it is a classic 6,1" IPS LCD with the resolution of 1792 × 828px, which results in the pixel density of 326ppi. The latest equipment novelty is a new A12 Bionic processor, based on neuron networks. The main processor has six cores. Four cores have a graphic arrangement od smartphones, thanks to which the general speed of work is to increase by 50% and the applications are to load 30% raster. All of this is achieved with the electricity demand decreased by 50%. New iPhones are more sealed (IP68 class) and they can be immersed by 2 meters for 30 minutes. The phones support handling two SIM cards (nano SIM and sSIM) and their speakers have also been improved. Demand for energy has decreased, thanks to which iPhone Xs is supposed to work 30 minutes later and iPhone Xs Max - 90 minutes longer than iPhone X.   11. GoPro HERO 7 announces the imminent death of gimbals - is it only boasting? The main improvements of the seventh series of sports GoPro cameras should be : stabilization, as with the use of a gimbal, and a possibility of streaming materials directly to social media. In the offer there are three GoPro 7 cameras - the cheapest one is called White, the medium model is Silver and the top model is traditionally called Black. 1). GoPro HERO 7 Black GoPro HERO 7 Black records films in 4K with the speed of 60f/s. In Full HD, the number of registered frames increases to 240f/s. The photographs will be taken with 12MP resolution. There are many functions reserved for the flagship GoPro model, for instance: advanced HyperSmoot stabilization, a possibility of streaming images to Facebook Live, a removable battery, three microphones, a possibility of connecting an external microphone, saving in the RAW format, H.265 (HVEC) as well as Protune and Super Photo modes. 2). GoPro HERO 7 Black GoPro HERO 7 Silver, similarly to the Black version, registers videos in 4K, but then the number of frames decreases to 30. With the use of the Slo-Mo function, we can register images with 2× slowdown. 3). GoPro HERO 7 Silver GoPro HERO 7 White record videos with the maximum resolution of 1440/60p. and does not have some functions, such as WDR. With the use of both White and Silver model we can take photographs with the resolution of 10MP. 4). GoPro HERO 7 White All three models are equipped with a touch screen, voice control and Wi-Fi.   12. Without the never-ending guesses and speculations, almost secretly, a full-frame mirrorless Canon EOS R camera had its premiere in Nobu hotel in London. Together with the new body, four lenses and a number of additional accessories also had their debuts. The CMOS sensor of the new Canon has 30.3MP and it is supported by the DIGIC 8 processor. The ISO range is 100 – 40,000, with a possibility of extension to ISO 50 - 51200. During continuous shooting the camera's speed will amount to 8f/s. The system called “Digital Lens Optimator” should take care of aberration correction by sending information from the lens to the camera's body. EOS R is a speed demon when it comes to AF, it adjusts sharpness in 0.05s and the number of settings combinations amounts to 5655 autofocus points, thanks to the “drag and drop function” on the touch screen - Touch And Drag AF. Focus adjustment should work up to -6EV. 1). Canon EOS R Canon EOS R is equipped with an electronic OLED viewfinder with the resolution of 3.69 million points, 0.76× zoom and the eyepoint of 23mm. At the back wall there is a 3.2'' LCD screen with the resolution of 2.1 million points – the screen is a touch one and it can be rotated. Still, we will not find the AF joystick, the PASM knob, the mode lever as well as the knob known from the producer's reflex cameras. The camera can register videos in 4K with the speed of 30f/s, with the C-Log profile and it sends 10-bit signal with 4:2:2 sampling through HDMI. EOS R has been sealed so you can photograph with the use of it in hard weather conditions. It can also work completely silently in the “Silent LV Shooting” mode. 2). Canon EOS R A complete novelty of new Canon is the Multifunctional Touch Bar – a bar next to the viewfinder which can be touched or moved with your finger, allowing instant modification of a chosen camera function. The camera's Bluetooth is always on, which should have an impact on the battery's durability. If we're talking about power supply, the new BG-E22 grip will hold two LP-E6N batteries and it will be able to fulfill the function of the USB charger. Another novelty presented together with the camera is Canon Speedlite EL- 100 flash light, with a possibility of reflecting light from the walls and the ceiling. 3). Canon EOS R The four presented lenses are as follows: RF 24–105mm f/4L IS USM, RF 28–70mm f/2L USM, RF 35mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM and ER 50mm f/1.2L USM. The bayonet's diameter of the new RF system is 54mm and the optical glass is 20mm from the sensor. All lenses have an additional multifunctional ring which facilitates control over the system. Together with the lenses, three adapters, enabling mounting EF and EF-S lenses on new mirrorless Canon cameras, were presented. One of the adapters is equipped with a ring fulfilling a function similar to the ring which can be found in the new lenses, the other one enables the use of inserted polarizing or gray filters. 4). Canon EOS R Canon EOS R body will cost $2200. In a set with the 24-105mm f/4L lens, the price will rise to $3,399. Something that has until now existed only in the world of speculations and rumors today became something real - Nikon confirmed the date of premiere of an advanced mirrorless camera with new mount, possibly in the FX format. A few days ago, the producer presented a photograph showing an outline of a mysterious camera and a cryptic advertising spot, under the title of "Travel of Light", appeared on YouTube. Today we finally got to know the date of the premiere of the new camera – it’s going to be 23rd August 2018. At the home page of the producer’s website there is a countdown timer counting 25 days from now and above it we can find a slogan: "In pursuit of light". The whole thing is stylistically close to the presented photographs and the film. 1). Nikon Mirrorless Camera As for now, it’s hard to say anything about the specification of the new Nikon baby. The rumor has it that it is going to be a direct rival of Sony A7 III. However, we already know that the camera will be equipped with a completely new mount to which (again, that’s a rumor) we will be able to mount lenses with the brightness of up to f/0.95. The buyers of the new Nikon will not have to get rid of the F-mount lenses which they had used until now – such lenses will be fit for use with an adapter. We could certainly write much more – the Internet is full of speculations, but let’s wait patiently until the date of the premiere, which is only a month from now.
  14. A pocket-size compact Fujifilm XF10, announced in the last few days, should satisfy more advanced photography amateurs, but not only. XF10 in short: the lens with the equivalence of 28mm and the light of f/2.8, the 24MP APS-C sensor, the 91-point AF and a fashionable design, which is so appreciated these days. The camera is equipped with the 24.2MP APS-C sensor with a conventional primary color filter (Bayer filter). There is no information which generation an "advanced image procesor” will belong to, but we can assume that it’s going to be EXR Processor II. 1). Fujifilm XF10 XT10 has a built-in Fujinon 18.5mm f/2.8 lens with the equivalence of 28mm. The photographers willing to reduce the focal length will have an "electronic teleconverter" at their disposal, thanks to which they will be able to narrow the field of vision to 35 or 50mm. We don't know the details of the XT10 lens' construction, but it seems that it will be similar to the one used in the X70 model, which involved 7 elements placed in 5 groups, including 2 aspheric lenses. 2). Fujifilm XF10 We will be able to save photographs in RAW or JPEG formats, with the maximum speed of 6f/s. The ISO range is 200-12800 and this parameter can be extended to ISO 100 - 51200. The camera is equipped with the 91 - point phase-detection AF. It will be possible to record videos in 4K with the use of XF10, but only with the speed of 15f/s. In order to record a video with satisfactory smoothness, we will have to resign from 4K and use Full HD (59.94p / 50p / 24p / 23.98p) instead. 3). Fujifilm XF10 At the back of the camera, there is a 3'' LCD touch screen, with the resolution of 1,040,000 points. Unfortunately, it cannot be rotated. The screen is equipped with the option of gesture recognition, with the use of which we will be able to activate the camera's functions. At the back of XF10, we will not find a classic, 4-direction selector nor many dedicated buttons which we could expect. Still, there is an AF joystick, which, apart from enabling the choice of the focus point, will also facilitate menu navigation. 4). Fujifilm XF10 The upper part of the camera is a bit more classic. There we will find the PASM knob with an improved SR+ automated mode as well as a separate exposition knob and a function button. It is worth mentioning a 1:1 photography function, which is aimed at pleasing Instagram lovers. New Fujifilm is equipped with Bluetooth, thanks to which we will be able to transfer files to other devices. The process will be facilitated by Fujifilm Camera Remote application. XF10 also offers 11 film simulation modes and 19 filters, including two new ones: 'Rich & Fine' and 'Monochrome' [NIR]. 5). Fujifilm XF10 The camera has been designed in the retro style. Its housing is angular, with a slightly rounded handle covered with leatherette. We will have only 2 colors to choose from: black and champagne. The dimensions of XT10 are 113 × 64 × 41mm and it weighs 279 g so it’s a light and small device – perfect to put in a holiday backpack. Among the devices offered by the producer, the lamp has its place in the middle, between a basic AD200 model and a professional AD600 model. 1). Godox Witstro AD400 Pro Compact Godox lamps, powered by rechargeable batteries, offer a unique diversity of uses. AD400 Pro is characterized by a cable number of 72 and its maximum power is 400Ws. The lamp has a 9-grade scope of power control: 1/1 to 1/256 and the flash time ranges from 1/240s to 1/12820s (support for HSS mode). 2). Godox Witstro AD400 Pro The lamp has a fixed color temperature of 5600K (+/- 75 K) and support for TTL mode. The reload time ranges from 0.01s to 0.9s. At our disposal we have support for the radio triggering system which will, as for now, work with Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus and Fujifilm cameras. The strobe mode has also been included. At the side of the lamp there is a big LCD screen. 3). Godox Witstro AD400 Pro Godox Witstro AD400 Pro has Godox/Quadralite mounting system, but with the use of adapters it will be possible to connect it with Bowens, Profoto and Elinchrom system modifiers. A fully charged rechargeable battery will enable making 390 flashes with full power. 4). Godox Witstro AD400 Pro The lamp is not big: it's only 220mm long and it weighs 2kg. The lamp is supposed to appear on the market in August, but its price is not known yet.
