  1. The owners of the cameras from the Canon EOS R system have just received the information concerning the premiere of the lenses of this system in 2019. In the upcoming months, we may expect six RF lenses: two portrait 85mm f/1.2 lenses (one is equipped with the Defocus Smoothing function), the reportage 15-35mm, 24-70mm and 70-200mm lenses with fixed f/2.8 light and the “travel zoom” with the universal range of 24-240mm f/4 - 6.3. 1). Canon RF 85mm f/1.2 Canon is moving forward and after the recent premiere of a very interesting professional full frame EOS RP camera, it has announced 6 RF lenses for this system which should debut this year. 2). Canon RF 15-30mm f/2.8L IS USM The range of the announced lenses is opened by 2 bright portrait lenses targeted at advanced and professional photographers. RF 85mm f/1.2L USM is to be characterized by the highest image quality. RF 85mm f/1.2 L USM DS has been equipped with the Defocus Smoothing function, which should guarantee malleable background blurring with the bokeh effect. In the case of the second lens, we can expect the use of the apodizing filter which will make it possible to obtain smooth contours in the unfocused areas. This will, in return, give “the three-dimensionality effect” to the photographs. 3). Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM The next 3 lenses are the reportage ones. RF 15 - 35mm f/2.8L IS UMS has been created having in mind architecture, interior and landscape photographs. It is also a proposal worth considering during the photography of special events. The RF 24-70 mm f/2.8L IS USM zoom will be a diverse one, perfect for reportage photography. The producer assures that the lens will be a perfect choice for filmmaking. The last lens from the “reportage trinity” is a stabilized RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM tele-lens which will perfectly fulfil its role in sports, documentary and nature photography as well as in taking portraits. 4). Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM, thanks to a wide range of focal lengths, is to become a true “work horse” among the announced lenses. Its recipients will be both professionals and advanced amateurs. The device is also an optimal travel companion, both when it comes to the diversity of uses (photo/video) and its small size. 5). Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM We will have to wait for the dates of premieres, prices and detailed specifications of the lenses.
  2. Rumors of a new Canon EOS R mirrorless camera with an APS-C sensor surfaced online again. There is also the possibility that Canon will start using the brand new Sony IMX571 26MP back-illuminated APS-C sensor in one of their upcoming cameras (not sure if it will be a DSLR or a mirrorless with RF mount).

Some of these functions appear in the cameras from the series for the first time. The camera is equipped with the 24MP CMOS sensor (with the ISO range of 100 - 51200), in APS-C format, supported by the latest DIGIC 8 processor, which enables continuous shooting with the speed of 10f/s and recording films in 4K. However, in the second case, we will be limited by a 1.6× crop factor (2.25× with the stabilization system turned on) and a phase-detection autofocus. The camera is also equipped with a phase-detection Dual Pixel AF, which has been well-rated by us during the tests. The autofocus is perfect for recording films and it is supposed to become event more efficient, thanks to 143 AF points and 100%vertical frame coverage (with selected lenses). What's more, we also have a 2.36MP built-in electronic viewfinder, which will be surely appreciated by more professional photographers, and a rotating touch LCD screen, with the resolution of 1.04Mp, which is supposed to significantly facilitate camera operation and navigation through the photographs and the preview mode. Canon has also introduced a new, C-RAW, image format, which saves full-size RAWs in a 40% smaller file, extended wireless functions (by adding a possibility of sending photographs immediately during takim them), a possibility of silent photography (electronic shutter mode) and support for the EOS Utility program, which enables easy tethering and controlling the camera from the computer. With the use of M50, we will also be able to record time-lapses in 4K and slow-motion films in HD, with the speed of 120 f/s. In addition, as one of really few cameras in its class, it offers a microphone connection, thanks to which it may become popular among vloggers and other people who like to record films and transfer them to the Internet. 5. The rumor, or more precisely Canonrumors.com, has it that we can expect the premiere of two full-frame mirrorless Canon cameras in the middle of 2019. The first camera will be equipped with the 30.4MP sensor and it will probably be a sensor similar to the one used in Canon EOS 5D Mark IV. The second “budget” model will be equipped with a sensor of lower resolution, possibly around 24MP. Of course, both cameras will record videos in 4K and in the higher model we can expect more advanced solutions. Mounting of the new Canon cameras is, as for now, a secret, but it seems that we can expect something “sexy”. As for now, we don’t have any reports concerning new Canon cameras names. Competitiveness in the industry has never resulted in anything bad when it comes to the customers so, after the announcements of the premieres of full-frame mirrorless Nikon and Canon cameras, the market of such devices, dominated by Sony, should become more diverse.
  6. Canon will release two full frame mirrorless cameras before the middle of 2019, the first one to come will be the “flagship” model for this new line of cameras. As reported earlier, this camera will sport a 30.4mp sensor that could be closely related to the EOS 5D Mark IV. The second full frame mirrorless body will be a lower megapixel count. We’ve seen mentions of various pixel counts, which isn’t unusual, as test cameras can come with a wide array of different image sensors. The most likely pixel count will be around 24mp, we do not believe they’ll be using the EOS 6D Mark II’s 26.2mp sensor, or even a modified version of it. Both cameras will shoot 4K, with the “flagship” model providing the best video features. We’re also told that there’s a possibility of a removable EVF on one of the cameras, which we think would be reserved for the lower end full frame mirrorless camera. We’re told that there are currently no plans to release a camera that will compete directly with Sony’s high ISO capable Alpha a7s II. What about the mount? We cannot get a straight answer about this. We’ve been told everything from a new mount to EF mount. One trusted source told us that the full frame mirrorless camera and EF mount problem has a “sexy” solution. We’re not sure what that means, but it’s the best news we’ve received on the topic. When are they coming? Both camera bodies will be shipping by mid 2019, but the exact announcement date for the first camera is unknown at this time. What will they be called? For the moment we only have codenames, but “EOS M1” has yet to be used by Canon. Other than that, no naming suggestions have been sent our way. via CanonRumors
  7. Canon now has a total of five new/upcoming cameras registered online (there was only one new camera registered three weeks ago). Two of the new cameras are DSLRs, three are mirrorless and one conmpact. Here are the details: Canon registered a new DS126721 camera The Canon K436 and K437 will be new DSLR cameras while the K424, K433 and EC811 will be mirrorless K433, K436, K437 and EC811 will all have Bluetooth remote control function The battery of the K436 is the same as the Canon EOS 77D The battery of the K437 is the same as Canon EOS 5D Mark IV Here is one possible scenario: K437 is the new EOS 7D Mark III K436 is the new EOS 80D Mark II EC811 is the new EOS M5 Mark II via Photorumors.com
  8. Canon registered four new lenses with the Russian certification authority. This brings the total number of registered and not-yet-announced Canon lenses to five. The new lenses will be made in Japan (Canon Utsunomiya Factory, Oita Factory). Via Digicame-info
  9. Canon presented the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM lens, dedicated for professionals. Unfortunately, no breakthrough has taken place and the changes in comparison to the predecessor are rather minor. The optical system consists of 23 elements placed in 19 groups (5 low-dispersion lenses and one fluorite lens), the 8-blade aperture can be closed up to the value of f/32 and the stabilization system has the efficiency of 3.5 EV. The lens is equipped with an ultrasonic ring autofocus drive – the minimum focus distance is 1.2m. One of very few novelties of a new lens are anti-reflective ASC coatings. The front and rear lens have been covered with fluorite coatings, which help in keeping the lenses clean. 1). Canon EF 70-200 mm f/2.8L IS III USM The body of the lens presented today is made of magnesium and fully sealed, thanks to which it is resistant to dust and splashes. In the set, we will find a tripod mount and a sun shield. The lens weighs 1,440g and its dimensions are 89 × 199mm. The lens will appear on sale in August 2018 and it will costs $2,100.
  10. A few significant improvements, compared to the first generation from 2010, can be found in the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II lens, presented a few days ago. The stabilization system has the efficiency of 5EV and it offers three modes of work: for static shots, for photographing of fast-moving objects and for panning shots. The system is also quieter than its predecessor. 1). Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 IS II The optical system consists of 20 elements placed in 15 groups, including one fluorite lens and two low-dispersion lenses. The front and rear lens have been covered with fluorite coatings, which help in keeping the lenses clean. In order to minimize light flares and light reflections, Super Spectra Coatings were used. The lens is equipped with an ultrasonic ring autofocus drive – the minimum focus distance is 1m. The lens has the dimensions of 80 × 176mm and it weighs 780g. Canon EF 70-200 mm f/4L IS II is to appear on sale this month and it will cost $1,300.

  12. Canon Japan officially announced that the Canon EOS-1v is now discontinued. This was Canon's last film camera. The EOS-1v will be available for sale at retailers until their inventory is gone. Nikon still lists their F6 film camera on their website but all three major US stores (B&H, Adorama, Amazon) are currently out of stock. I will not be surprised if the F6 will also be discontinued soon. via photorumors.com
  13. Canon is rumored to announce new 70-200mm f/4L and 70-200mm f/2.8L lenses in June:
  14. Canon has a patent (2018-054913) for a new tilting screen designed for EOS-M mirrorless cameras (via CanonNews).
  15. Canon Mirrorless Camera Last week CanonRumors reported that the new Canon full frame mirrorless camera is coming soon and is already being tested by select Canon pro photographers. Today Nokishita confirmed this rumor and posted several new Canon camera registrations that include also two new mirrorless models: K424 Interchangeable lens camera Full frame Wi-Fi · Bluetooth installed It is described as a mirrorless full frame (6720 × 4480) in the test data (since the detail column is filled with almost the same data as 5D Mark IV [K349], the image size may be a dummy possibility) K433 Interchangeable lens camera Wi-Fi · Bluetooth installed It is described as a mirrorless full frame in the test data (it is the same as the data of K424, so it is possible that the initial setting data was diverted for testing) K436 Lens interchangeable camera (probably single lens reflex) Wi-Fi · Bluetooth installed K437 Lens interchangeable camera (probably single lens reflex) Wi-Fi · Bluetooth installed EC801 Compact digital camera Wi-Fi · Bluetooth installed EC804 Compact digital camera Wi-Fi · Bluetooth installed More functions than EC 801 and EC 805 (probably G series) EC 805 Compact digital camera Wi-Fi · Bluetooth installed EC 811 Mirror-less camera Wi-Fi · Bluetooth installed via Photorumors
  16. Canon Has Ambitious Plans Canon made an interesting statement in their annual Corporate Strategy Conference (page 8) - the company is planning to go on the offensive in the mirrorless market and reach 50% market share of the entire interchangeable-lens camera market:
  17. Canon Full Frame Mirrorless Camera Prototype Exists CanonRumors reports that a full frame mirrorless camera prototype with a new body style does exist. Here is what we know: It has a top down LCD like the Leica SL The flange distance looks too short for it to be an EF mount, but no lens was attached to the body to be sure A press of the shutter button in burst mode sounded like it shot over 10fps There were no markings on branding on the body via Photorumors.com
  18. Canon has presented Speedlite 470EX-AI which is the first flash equipped with Auto Intelligent Bounce function. Auto Intelligent Bounce technology automatically calculates distance from the surrounding walls and positions the speedlite head in order to obtain optimal light reflection. A fully automatic flash mode minimally moves the head with each shot. Thanks to this, a photographer does not have to manually correct its settings every time. The flash is also equipped with a semi-automatic mode, which additionally adjusts the flash angle and the flash head during the change of orientation of the camera. 1). Canon Speedlite 470EX-AI Apart from this interesting function, Speedlite 470EX-AI is quite effective as for the speedlite of this type. The guide number of 47 (ISO 100) and a wide range of focal length covering from 24mm to 105mm (or 14mm, with the use of a built-in adapter), enable a wide range of flash, also with the wide-angle shots. New Canon Speedlite 470EX-AI has the HSS synchronization mode, thanks to which it is possible to take photographs with the use of a flash, even with the exposure time which exceeds the maximum flash synchronization time. 2). Canon Speedlite 470EX-AI Speedlite has wireless control functions, which enable remote triggering as a transmitter and a trigger. As could be expected of such speed lite, the flash is equipped with an LCD screen, facilitating quick reading of parameters and change of settings. A shortcut button and a control knob ensure convenient access to the saved modes of work and make it possible to fully control the triggered light. Canon Speedlite 470EX-AI is to appear on sale in April and it will cost $299.

  20. In a set with new macro lenses, Canon also presented the next version of MT24EX flash. Canon MT26EXRT Twin Lite, as the new model is called, is a perfect proposal for macro, product and food photographers. As can be "easily" concluded from its name, the flash has a guide number of 26 for ISO 100 and the power of the flash can be reduced to 1/512 of its maximum power. 1). Canon MT26EXRT Twin Lite Full reload takes 5.5 seconds, with the use of regular batteries, and 2.5 seconds, with the use of CPE4N batteries. Besides, the flashes are equipped with supporting diodes and diffusors. 2). Canon MT26EXRT Twin Lite Of course, we also have a head with removable rings in a set, thanks to which we will be able to mount the full set on various lenses. 3). Canon MT26EXRT Twin Lite Canon MT26EXRT Speedlight is to appear on sale in November. It will cost $900.
  21. Canon has made an attempt to steal some splendor from Nikon and it decided to focus on both quantity and quality. The next lenses which are having their premieres today are three tilt-shift macro constructions: TS-E 50mm f/2.8L MACRO, TS-E 90mm f/2.8L MACRO and TS-E 135mm f/4L MACRO. These lenses, thanks to rich possibilities of focus and perspective control, will enable both professionals and more advanced enthusiasts to work even more creatively. The lenses will perfectly fulfill their functions not only in macro photography but also in landscape and portrait photography as well as in movie-making. Canon TS-E 50mm f/2.8L MACRO will be a perfect solution for architecture and landscape photography. It is equipped with 12 lenses placed in 9 groups. 1). Canon TS-E 50mm f/2.8L MACRO The TS-E 90mm f/2.8L MACRO model is the lens consisting of 11 elements placed in 7 groups. Apart from macro photographers, it should also find its way to the bags of many portrait and wedding photographers. 2). Canon TS-E 90mm f/2.8L MACRO Canon TS-E 135mm f/4L MACRO, just like its predecessor, consists of 11 elements placed in 7 groups. The macro lens has a bit longer focal length which should perfectly fulfill its role outside, and a longer portrait lens. 3). Canon TS-E 135mm f/4L MACRO All three lenses are equipped with the optical solutions which enable one to reduce the refraction of light, which hinders accurate focus. Ultra-low dispersion lenses make it possible to achieve better sharpness of the image. The used lens is to ensure the highest quality of the image and its full clarity. Tilt-shift in the presented constructions makes it possible to rotate the lens vertically and horizontally, which enables one to minimize all kinds of perspective distortion and regulate the depth of field. We also have a possibility of blocking this rotation in neutral position in order not to change it during the normal use of the lens. All three lenses will appear on sale in November and each will cost around $2,200.
  22. Today, the impressive family of Canon lenses got extended by a few new models. One of the lenses which is having its premiere today, and possibly the most important one, is the 85mm f/1.4L IS USM model. It is the first 85mm Canon lens with image stabilization. The lens consists of 14 lenses placed in 10 groups. As could be expected of this series, only the highest-quality elements are included in it. They are supposed to ensure the correction of chromatic aberration and offer high optical quality. In addition, the ASC (Air Sphere Coating) coating has been used in the lens. This layer, with an ultra-low refractive index, is to eliminate ghosting and flare effects. 1). Canon 85mm f/1.4L IS USM Besides, the lens is also equipped with the electro-magnetic diaphragm (EMD), which consists of nine blades, and a novelty – optical image stabilization, whose effectiveness, as the produced promises, will be 4EV. The new Canon is, of course, equipped with the ultrasonic autofocus motor (USM). The lens is also sealed against water and dust. The front lens is covered with a fluoride coating, which is to hinder dirt sticking. Canon EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM is to appear on sale in November and it will cost $1,600.
  23. Canon Selphy CP1300 is a new portable printer which makes it possible to print photographs with the maximum size of 10×15cm, in 300dpi resolution and 24-bit color depth. We also have a possibility of changing print finishing (gloss or 3 types of semi-gloss) without the need to change the type of paper. The printer is equipped with a 3.2'' LCD screen and it is powered by rechargeable battery, which makes it possible to print out up to 55 photographs. Of course, we also have wireless functions at out disposal, which enable us to conveniently print out photographs from both smartphones and cameras. The printer is also equipped with the SD card reader. 1). Canon Selphy CP 1300 The printer costs around $150 and it is available in the following colors: black, white, and pink.
  24. The next camera presented by Canon is EOS 200D – a much-awaited EOS 100D's successor. The new version, similarly to its predecessor, is an ultra-compact reflex camera, which weighs merely 453g. Yet, as for a budget camera, it's pretty well-equipped. The main element of the camera is CMOS (APS-C) sensor, with the resolution of 24MP (its predecessor had 18 Mp). The sensor is supported by the latest generation DIGIC 7 processor, whose function is to, among other things, improve the overall efficiency of the camera. The camera enables us to shoot photographs within the ISO range of 100-25600, which can be extended to 51200. The new Canon makes it possible to take photographs with the speed of 5f/s (single mode) or 3.5f/s (continuous mode). 1). Canon EOS 200D The autofocus, Dual Pixel AF, is known from other newest models and it combines phase and contrast detection. However, this is not the same version which was used in the higher-level models, since in the new 200D we only have 9 AF points to choose from. When it comes to film-making functions, as we could have expected, we do not have a possibility of recording films in 4K, but only in Full HD (60f/s). 2). Canon EOS 200D What's more, the camera is equipped with a 3'' touch screen (fully swiveling and rotating), with the resolution of 1,040,000 points. We can also connect the camera with mobile devices, via Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth. 3). Canon EOS 200D Canon EOS 200D should appear on sale in August 2017 in two color versions – black and silver. It will cost around $550 (for the body) or around $700 (in the set with 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens).
