  6. For the last few weeks, we have been bombarded by the leaks concerning Nikon D850. Today, exactly at midnight EST, Nikon officially showed its newest creation, which proves that reflex cameras can still be innovative. Impressive resolution of 45MP, fast continuous shooting mode, rich movie-making functions – these are the main features of the D850 model presented today. In many aspects, the camera presented today does not resemble its predecessor. The camera has undergone improvements practically on every level. As a result, we get a new full-frame BSI CMOS sensor, without a low-pass filter, with impressive resolution of 45.7 million pixels, which is supported by the EXPEED 5 image processor, known from Nikon D5. Thanks to this, we can take photographs within the ISO range of 64–25600 (with a possibility to extend to ISO 32–102,400). 1). Nikon D850 Continuous shooting mode also makes a great impression. In D850 we can take photographs with the maximum speed of 7f/s, with full AF support, and after plugging in MB-D18 battery grip and EN-EL18a/b rechargeable batteries, this speed increases up to 9f/s. It is worth remembering that the camera has almost 46MP! What is more, as the producer assures, the camera's buffer will be filled only after taking 51 photographs. The camera is also equipped with a totally silent electronic shutter, thanks to which we will be able to take photographs with the speed of 30 f/s. However, in this mode the photographs will be reduced to 8.6MP. 2). Nikon D850 The autofocus is 153-point AF system with the central point's sensitivity up to -4 EV (other sensitive points up to -3EV). Apart from that, the autofocus is to cover 30% more of the frame than the reporter model D5. The camera is also supposed to perfectly fulfil its role during the recording of videos. In D850, we can record movies in 4K (24/25/30p), in full size of the sensor. In addition, we get a range of helpful functions such as zebra patterning or focus peaking. We will also be able to connect headphones and microphone to the D850 model as well as transfer the uncompressed 4K 8-bit 4:2:2 material through HDMI connector. It is also worth adding that we will be able to record time-lapse movies in 4K. 3). Nikon D850 On the back panel, we will find a folding 3.2'' LCD touch screen, with the resolution of 2.36MP – known from the D500 model. The camera has two slots for memory cards – one for SD, and the second one for XQD. Of course, we can also find wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) as well as use SnapBridge. The body of D850 is, of course, fully sealed. The back and upper walls are made of magnesium alloy whereas the front one is made of material. The camera does not have a built-in flash, which significantly improves its impermeability and durability. The buttons, as in the case of other top bodies, are now illuminated. 4). Nikon D850 Nikon D850 is to appear on sale in September. Most interestingly, it will cost about $3300. You can pre-order this camera here.

The sensor stands out also due to a wide ISO sensitivity range of 64-25600. This feature is definitely going to be useful in many fields of photography. Nikon D850 also solves the problem of photographing dynamic actions in high resolution. The autofocus consists of 153 points (including 99 cross-type ones) and, therefore, it offers precision and unique speed of operation. The support of the CPU system with high efficiency - EXPEED 5, additionally guarantees the precision of operation and the possibility of achieving the speed of 7f/s. What's more, by equipping the camera with the MB-D18 grip and the EN-EL18b/a battery, one can increase the speed to 9f/s. The energy-saving features of the camera enable taking up to 1840 photographs on a single charge. The camera also offers a unique movie mode in 4K @ 30p and it uses, as the first Nikon camera, the whole sensor, without the crop factor. It means that the depth of field on the films and in the photographs involving the same frame will be identical. The only difference will be the resolution. During the recording of films in FullHD, we can set the maximum speed at 60f/s, which makes it possible to create attractive slow motion shots. Nikon D850 is the first camera on the market which is going to be useful in almost every field of photography.
