    Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM Announcement

Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM - a small wide-angle lens dedicated for photographers and filmmakers. Lens has been designed based on thirteen lenses placed in ten groups - two lenses are made in XA (extremely aspherical) technology and three are made of low-dispersion glass. The lenses are covered with anti-reflective Nano AR coatings, which are to ensure perfect resolution within the whole frame, smooth blurring and unique effects during work against the sunlight. The lens' aperture is made of eleven blades whose closing enables achieving the effective of 22-arm stars at light points - sharp photographs can be taken already from the distance of 24cm. The lens is small, it has the dimensions of 92 x 75mm and it weighs 445g. We can mount filters with the diameter of 67mm on the lens. 1). Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM Definitely having in mind people who record films with the use of mirrorless Sony cameras, the modes of the lens ring work. The ring responsible for aperture control can work in the continuous mode and the focus ring directly translates to the movement of lenses. Inside the lens, we will find the ultrasonic Direct Drive SSM motor, which, as the producer assures, is now 3x faster than the older constructions and it ensures quiet work. 2). Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM Autofocus Motor The lens will appear on sale this month and it will cost $1400.
  2. Sony registered two new XQD memory cards with the Russian certification agency. Their model numbers are QDG120F and QDG240F.

Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS Announcement

Professional users of mirrorless Sony cameras can finally complete their arrays with a new bright FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS lens which has been announced for a long time. The lens has been designed having in mind sports photographers as well as the ones wanting to catch wildlife in movement – the combination of the above in the form of, for instance, a bear on a skateboard is, of course, possible. 1). Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS The optical system of the new Sony lens is based on 23 lenses placed in 17 groups, 3 of which are low-dispersion fluorite lenses. In order to ensure good balance of the lens, the lenses have been placed in the central and rear parts of the system. The lenses are covered with anti-reflective and fluorine coatings, which enable keeping them clean. 2). Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS The lens is equipped with a 11-blade aperture. Two newly-designed linear motors, which are supposed to facilitate the tracking of moving objects, are responsible for the functioning of the autofocus. At our disposal, we have 3 modes of image stabilization and a sharpening clutch. On the side of the lens, we have function buttons, including Full-Time DMF switch, which enables continuous manual sharpening. 3). Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS One of the main advantages of the lens is its construction. It has the dimensions of 158 x 359mm, it weighs only 2.7kg and it is supposed to enable, in special circumstances, photographing ”from hand”. The lens is made of magnesium and is, of course, sealed. Inserted filters with the diameter of 40.5mm can be used on the lens. In the case of using 1.4x and 2x converters, the brightness will decrease by, respectively, f/4 and f/5.6. 4). Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS will appear on sale in September. The enthusiasm may be cooled down by the price of the lens since, as at today, it will cost $12000.

    Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX100 VI Announcement

Today, we received a specification and the description of properties of the sixth generation of the advanced compact cameras Sony RX100. Cameras from the RX100 series have determined boundaries of achievements of pocket-size compact cameras for a long time. It appears that Sony engineers have again risen to the challenge. 1). Sony RX100 VI RX100 VI is equipped with the 1'' sensor, in Exmor RS technology, with the resolution of 10.1 Mp. ISO range = 125 to 12800, can be extended to ISO 80-25600. The sensor's resolution has not changed in comparison to the predecessor, but thanks to the use of Bionz X processor, together with LSI chip and dedicated DRAM memory, the camera's efficiency has doubled. Strong hardware of RX100 enables taking photographs with the speed of 24f/s or even 233 JPEG photographs in 'Fine' quality in the buffer. The camera offers the fastest autofocus in its class, based on 315 phase-detection points, with 65% frame coverage. The focusing time is 0.03s. 2). Sony RX100 VI The speed of face tracking and recognition has been doubled, in comparison to its predecessor. Thanks to the use of a sensor with faster sampling, the rolling-shutter effect can be significantly minimized. 3). Sony RX100 VI The Sony RX100 VI lens is yet another novelty. It is equipped with the zoom with the equivalent of 24-200mm and it is based on 15 lenses (10 aspherical ones, including 2 low-dispersion lenses), placed in 12 groups. The aperture range of the lens is f/2.8 - f/4.5 - these parameters are significantly worse than on the case of the predecessor. When the new camera is in the hands of the customers, we will be able to assess whether a new processor reduces the noise in the photographs taken in low light. Now we can suspect that the optical stabilization system, with the efficiency of 4 EV should help in reducing image noises. 4). Sony RX100 VI A new thing in the new Sony is a fully touch LCD screen, with the resolution of 1228 thousand points. The screen can be folded by 180 degrees upwards and 90 degrees downwards. This should definitely satisfy vloggers and selfie lovers. The camera is also equipped with a retractable electronic viewfinder, with the resolution of 2359 thousand points and the flash. 5). Sony RX100 VI Videos will be recorded in 4K HDR, in the resolution of 3840x2160, with the use of the Hybryd Long Gamma profile. Full HD materials will be recorded with the speed of 120f/s, and in slow motion, the camera will be able to record even 1000 frames during one second. Sony RX100 VI is to appear on sale next month and its price, as for today, is $1.199.99. You can pre-order this camera using this link: Amazon

  7. Today Sony announced a new ECX339A OLED microdisplay featuring UXGA (1600 x 1200 resolution) - the highest in its class for a 0.5" EVF. This EVF also achieves the world's smallest pixel pitch of 6.3μm (resolution 1.6x higher than the previous model). When paired with Sony's original driving system, a frame rate up to 240 fps is supported (double that of the previous model). This is a good news since EVF has been one of the week aspects of mirrorless cameras (at least for me). The new EVF promises to be even better than the one in the $6k Leica SL (4.4 million dots and 1,470,000 pixels) which is the best EVF I have ever seen in a mirrorless camera. by Sonyaddict

The latest generation of the successor of a7 II is supposed to be the nail in the coffin of DSLR's - at least, that's what the most devoted fans of the company say 😉 However, we can be sure that the price-possibilities ratio should attract all of the undecided people who want to check mirrorless Sony cameras. 1). Sony A7 III The camera is equipped with a new 24.2Mp BSI CMOS Exmor R sensor, which is to offer the 15-grade dynamic system and better color reproduction. The sensor can also work within the ISO sensitivity range of ISO 100-51200 (which can be extended to ISO 50-204 800). The sensor has, of course, 5-axis stabilization with the effectiveness of 5 EV. The BIONZ X processor enables work with the speed of 10f/s (8f/s in the electronic shutter mode) and saving up to 177 JPEG photographs and 89 RAW photographs during ones shooting. In contrast to the predecessor, we can use the menu while processing photographs. 2). Sony A7 III The autofocus is an effective system based on 693 phase-detection points and 425 contrast-detection points, which cover 93% of the frame. The autofocus is supposed to effectively track the eye of the photographed person in the continuous shooting mode AF-C. 3). Sony A7 III As could be expected frorm the Alfa series, the camera is also equipped with advanced video functions. It enables full-frame video recording in 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) with the speed of 30f/s (unfortunately, not 60f/s). We also have flat profiles S-Log 2 and S-Log 3 at our disposal, which give us more possibilities of color grading in post production. In addition, we can record Full HD files with the speed of 120f/s, the bit rate of 100 Mb/s and full autofocus support, which enables the recording of films in 5x slow motion. We can also use the HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) profile, which facilitates the creation of HDR films. 4). Sony A7 III When it comes to the construction, the new model is almost identical to Sony a7R III. The body is fully made of magnesium and it has new seallings. We have a 3'' LCD touch screen, which cannot be used to browse through menu. The 2.36Mp electronic viewfinder is known from the previous version (a7R III has been equipped with the 3.6Mp viewfinder). Besides that, we have a new SD memory card slot and an additional USB-C connector, which can be used to power and charge the camera. It is also worth mentioning new buttons and a knob, which are much more precise than they used to be. 5). Sony A7 III The new Sony a7 III will appear on the market in April. Its price is very attractive - $1999 for the body and $2200 in a set with the 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS lens. Sony A7R III Announcement

Without a doubt, today was a day of premieres. The most important premiere was for sure the announcement of a new Sony A7r III, the camera for which we had to wait for 2 years, and about which we’ve been hearing rumors for the last few months. The newest camera is to have better image quality and it is supposed to be significantly faster and more effective than its predecessor. The third generation of a full-frame mirrorless Sony camera is equipped with 42.2-MP CMOS Exmor R sensor, which was designed in BSI (Back Side Illumination – similarly to Nikon D850) technology. The sensor has 5-axis stabilization and is supposed to have the efficiency of 5.5 EV. The sensor does not have a low-pass filter, which should influence quality and detailedness of photographs. Pixel Shift Multi system is also used in the camera. It uses 5-axis stabilizer to take photographs with very high resolution. When you turn on this mode, the camera will precisely move image processor by 1 pixel, as a result of which four independent images, mutually moved by 1 pixel, will be registered. The images will have around 169.6 Mp altogether. Then these four images can be joined together in the mentioned “Imaging Edge” software package. 1). Sony A7R III with Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM BIONZ X processor has been modernized when compared to its predecessor. It is supposed to be around 1.8x more efficient. The camera can work within the ISO range of 100-32.000, which can be extended to ISO 50-102.400. 15-grade dynamic range in low sensitivities is also impressive. With the use of the new camera, we will be able to take photographs with the speed up to 10f/s, with full focus and exposition automation, both in the mechanical shutter mode and in the electronic shutter mode. The system of low-vibration shutter is also a novelty. It reduces the amount of vibrations and prevents image blurring in all modes, also during continuous shooting. During one series, one can take up to 76 JPEG/RAW photographs or up to 28 RAW photographs without compression. Low-vibration shutter is also a novelty. It reduces the amount of vibrations and prevents image blurring in all modes, also during continuous shooting. 2). Sony A7R III Focus adjustment system in Sony AR7 III includes 399 phase-detection AF points placed in focal length plane, which cover around 68% of image area. 425 contrast-detection AF points are also available - 400 more than in the previous generation’s version of this mirrorless camera. The autofocus system also works in zoom mode. 3). Sony A7R III When it comes to the construction, the camera has not undergone many changes. A direction joystick used to choose focus areas has been added. The body, similarly to is predecessor’s, is made of magnesium and it is fully sealed. The camera is also equipped with a bright electronic viewfinder OLED Tru-Finder, with high resolution of around 3.686 million points. We can also choose the speed of its refreshing from 60 up to 120 fps. The main screen has been designed in WhiteMagic technology, which is to improve visibility on sunny days. We can also choose the quality of the image displayed on a viewfinder and on the screen. The camera also possesses 2 memory card slots, one of which operates with SD (UHS-II). Working time of a rechargeable battery has increased significantly, because the new camera is powered by Sony battery from Z series, which has 2.2 times more capacity than a rechargeable battery from W series, which was used in the previous body. 4). Sony A7R III Many people will be interested in the film-making functions of the new Sony A7R III. The camera enables recording in 4K (3840x2160 pixels) with the use of full width of a full-frame image processor. A generated image is made smaller to 4K, which influences image quality in a very positive way. In addition, we have gamma curves - S-Log2 and S-Log3. There is also a new HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) format which enables us to use “Instant HDR” work organization system in the camera and display 4K HDR images on the TV sets compatible with HDR (HLG) technology. The camera also enables registering material in Full HD, with the speed of 120fps, with focus tracking. 5). Sony A7R III with Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Sony A7R III will be available on sale at the end of November. It will cost $3200.
