In this video, I'll share 3 common posing mistakes that can ruin your pose! By understanding these mistakes and learning how to avoid (and fix) them, you'll be well on your way to dramatic improvements in your posing!

Mistake #1: Distracting Hands

If the hands are wrong it can ruin your images! Avoid clenched fists and the palm facing toward the camera. Instead, aim for relaxed hands and pinky side of the hand toward the camera. Always give the subject's hands a second look before taking your shot!

Mistake #2: Foreshortening

Foreshortening occurs when the limbs (or body) come directly to or away from the camera. This issue with perspective makes them look cut off or shortened (hence foreshortening).

Positioning your subjects in ways that maintain accurate proportions will result in more flattering and visually appealing photographs. Lower the elbow, elongate the body from side to side, and avoid legs/arms/fingers from pointing at the camera.

Mistake #3: Bad posture

Posture plays a crucial role in the overall aesthetics of a photograph. Direct your subjects into confident yet relaxed poses that enhance their features. Bad posture leads to diminished stature, rolls in the midsection, shorter neck, and more.
