  1. Press release: TAMRON Announces Ultra-telephoto Zoom for FUJIFILM X-Mount 150-500mm F/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD (Model A057) Compact 750mm (full-frame equivalent) offers easy super telephoto shooting opportunities September 20, 2022, Commack, NY - Tamron announces the launch of the 150-500mm F/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD (Model A057), an ultra-telephoto zoom lens for FUJIFILM X-mount. The lens is will be on sale October 13, 2022 at $1499. However, due to the current global health crisis, the release date or product supply schedule could change. The 150-500mm F5-6.7 covers a full-frame equivalent focal length range of 225mm to 750mm, combining compact size with stunning image quality across the entire zoom range—from the center of the image to the edges. Photographers can now easily enjoy the benefits of ultra-telephoto photography with its easy-to-handle compact body. The new ultra-telephoto zoom is equipped with the VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) precise and high-speed linear motor focus mechanism and TAMRON’s proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism. At the 150mm end, the lens offers an MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 23.6” for powerful and dramatic close-ups. PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS 1. Compact 750mm equivalent¹ ultra-telephoto zoom lens Although it reaches the ultra-telephoto focal length equivalent of 750mm, the 150-500mm F5-6.7 is still quite compact in size with a length of just 8.3” and a maximum diameter of 93mm. Even when extended fully to the telephoto end, the length of the lens is only 11.2” so it can be used comfortably. The lens zooms from 150mm to 500mm by rotating the zoom ring through an arc of just 75° that enables rapid adjustment to the desired angle of view with minimal movement, avoiding missed opportunities and facilitating intuitive composition. 2. Amazing high image quality The optical construction features 25 elements in 16 groups. The generous and effective use of special lens elements including one XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) element, five LD (Low Dispersion) elements, and two Hybrid Aspherical lens elements thoroughly controls aberrations including axial chromatic aberrations. And because the 150-500mm F5-6.7 is designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras, it delivers extremely high image quality and overall performance across the entire zoom range, in the center and from edge-to-edge. 3. 3. Press release: Fujifilm Unveils FUJINON XF56mmF1.2 R WR Mid-Telephoto Lens Valhalla, N.Y., September 8, 2022 – FUJIFILM North America Corporation today announces the launch of the new FUJINON XF56mmF1.2 R WR (XF56mmF1.2 R WR) weather-resistant, mid-telephoto prime lens, XF56mmF1.2 R WR, offering the 35mm equivalent focal length to an 85mm lens, is successor to the popular FUJINON XF56mmF1.2 R lens, and now features significant improvements from that prior model in minimum focusing distance, image-resolving performance and beautiful rendering of out-of-focus background. “XF56mmF1.2 R WR is the first Fujifilm X Mount lens to feature an almost perfectly circular aperture, even at F4 or F5.6, resulting in a clean edge along a highlight, with minimal aberrations and distractions, that is especially pleasing when it is out of focus. This design allows beautiful bokeh with busy backgrounds melting away from their subjects to create an isolating effect untouched by any other lens,” said Victor Ha, vice president of the Electronic Imaging and Optical Device Divisions, FUJIFILM North America Corporation. “The new XF56mmF1.2 R WR lens offers a wide variety of creative applications such as portraits, weddings, street photography, table-top, and commercial photography -- all situations that demand precise control over depth-of-field.” Main product features Outstanding image-resolving performance and stunning bokeh The lens design, consisting of 13 elements in eight groups including two aspherical elements and one ED element, suppresses various types of aberration including chromatic aberration and spherical aberration to achieve edge-to-edge image sharpness and smooth bokeh. The eight elements used in the focusing group take high-refractive technology from FUJINON cinema lenses to minimize chromatic, spherical, and comatic aberrations. In particular, this technology helps to minimize light bleed within highlights, boosting image quality and subject detail to achieve advanced image resolution. XF56mmF1.2 R WR is the first Fujifilm X Mount lens to use 11 diaphragm blades to achieve a near-perfect circle in the aperture¹, even at F4 or F5.6. A fast, mid-telephoto lens for a wide range of creative applications With a 56mm focal length (equivalent to 85mm in the 35mm format) and the open aperture of F1.2, XF56mmF1.2 R WR is a perfect choice for portraiture, as it provides clear separation of the subject from its background. In addition, the minimum focusing distance has been reduced from its predecessor version to just 50cm², due to improved resolving capability at minimum object distance (MOD). The reduced distance allows users to enjoy the appeal of this fast, mid- telephoto prime in a wide variety of situations beyond portraits, such as table-top, product and commercial photography. Autofocus (AF) function driven by an evolved direct current (DC) motor for speed and accuracy A DC motor is used to drive the focusing group of eight elements and the aperture unit for precise AF, necessary to achieve XF56mmF1.2 R WR’s advanced image resolution from MOD and beyond. The lens can attain focus quickly and accurately to freeze a decisive photo opportunity even when photographing with a shallow depth-of-field. Also, an added feature of the bearing mechanism successfully minimizes friction that may arise when the DC motor is driving lens elements, to nearly eliminate motor noise and the impact on video/audio recording quality. Protected from dust and moisture This compact and lightweight lens weighs just 15.69 ounces (445g) and measures nearly 3 inches (76mm). The lens barrel is weather-resistant in 9 places to ensure dust- and weather- resistance as well as the ability to operate at temperatures as low as 14°F (-10°C). The front lens element is applied with fluorine coating to repel water and offer protection against stains, fingerprints and other marks. 6. Press release: A New 18mm Ultra-Wide-Angle Fixed Focal Length Lens with F1.8 Large Aperture Compact, Lightweight LUMIX S 18mm F1.8 (S-S18) for the LUMIX S Series Panasonic is pleased to introduce a new large-aperture ultra-wide fixed focal length lens, the LUMIX S 18mm F1.8 (S-S18), as the fifth addition to the series of F1.8 large-aperture lenses based on the L-Mount system standard. The large-aperture LUMIX S 18mm F1.8 (S-S18) boasts high optical performance passing the quality standard of professional use despite its compact size. Ultra-wide 18mm perspective provides versatile ways of use at different shooting distances. In a long shot, it captures more foreground or background elements to deliver a dynamic impression into the image. It is possible to add artistic expression to the foreground subject using rich perspective by shooting from a short distance. A total of five F1.8 fixed focal length lenses from the LUMIX S Series including the 85mm (S-S85), 50mm (S-S50), 35mm (S-S35), 24mm (S-S24) and the new 18mm (S-S18) lens feature a common size and position of control parts to provide practical advantages in use. The center of gravity of these lenses is almost the same so that it is easy to exchange lenses quickly with minimum balance adjustment when the camera is on a gimbal. Common filters can also be used thanks to the same diameter. The descriptive performance of these lenses is also consistent. Covering virtually any framing and composition, use of these five LUMIX S F1.8 fixed focal length lenses will suffice for filmmaking with minimum workflow and post-production process. The LUMIX S 18mm F1.8 is comprised of thirteen lens elements in twelve groups including three aspherical lenses, three ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lenses, one UED (Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion) lens and one UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) lens. The use of three aspherical lenses realizes both high descriptive performance and beautiful bokeh, which are common advantages to the series of all F1.8 lenses. The three ED lenses effectively suppress chromatic aberration. It is suitable for versatile situations including landscapes, astrophotography and architecture photography taking advantage of the ultra wide angle of view. It can also be used for close-up shots thanks to the minimum focusing distance of 0.18m. The LUMIX S 18mm F1.8 is capable of smooth, silent operation to work with the camera’s high-speed, high-precision contrast AF system with the sensor drive at max.240 fps. For the non-linear setting, focus is shifted with a variable amount according to the rotation speed of the focus ring while focus is shifted with a designated amount according to the rotational quantum of the focus ring for the linear setting. Sensitivity (the amount of focus shift per rotational quantum) can be selected from 90 to 360 degrees by 30 degrees to enable intended focus operation¹. The LUMIX S 18mm F1.8 also excels in video recording performance with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, which was a fatal problem of all interchangeable lenses designed for still image photography. Together with a micro-step aperture control for smooth exposure change, professional quality video can be recorded. With its approximately 340g compact size and light weight, the LUMIX S 18mm F1.8 features stunning mobility to fit the S5, LUMIX’s smallest full-frame model.
